Don't ever come back

Cassian’s POV The plane landed in New York City late, immediately I got off, a driver was waiting for me. I entered the car and we set off, few minutes after I entered, I received a call. “Hello boss,” Victor said from the other end of the phone. “Yes,” “We have been having a visitor lately, I couldn't inform you till you landed,” Victor said. “If you have something to say Victor, say it already.” “It's Celina, boss.” He replied. “She’s been coming here every day,” he said. “Celina. She’s been talking to Anya.” My chest tightened. “What do you mean talking?” “She’s been feeding her stories, sir. About you. About your past.” I stood completely still in the private terminal. My jaw clenched. My claws pressed lightly against the insides of my fingers, begging to extend. I forced them back. “How long?” “Since the day after you left.” “And you didn’t stop her?” “You didn’t leave instructions. I didn’t think she’d…” He trailed off. I cut the call without another word, my wolf was already clawing beneath the surface. By the time I arrived at the estate, it was dark out. The guards at the gates looked like they wanted to disappear when they saw my face. Good. They should be afraid. I stormed inside, each step like thunder on marble. Victor was waiting for me in the foyer. “Sir—” “Where is she?” “In the sunroom. She just left an hour ago. Anya’s in her room.” I didn’t speak. I just turned and walked toward the west hall. My mind was on fire, the image of Celina’s smug face. The thought of her sitting next to Anya, whispering poison into her ears, while I wasn’t here to stop it. It wasn’t the stories she told, It was the fact that she was trying to make Anya doubt me. She was turning her fear into something deeper. Something that could sever what we were building before it even had a chance. I reached my office and slammed the door behind me. My hands gripped the edge of the desk. I could hear the wood creaking under the pressure. She’s going to pay for this. I wanted to check on Anya, but the way I was feeling right now, I would say something or do something I didn't mean. In the end, I decided to just stay the night in my office and check up on her the next morning. I stayed up and worked on some documents, I didn't realize how much time had gone. Till Victor came in to give me a cup of coffee. It was a routine for him to bring me coffee at 5am every morning, especially when I was working late. “Morning boss,” he greeted. “I'm going to get this slide just once Victor, the next time something like this happens, I'll have your head sent back to your family.” I was still very much angry that he didn't call my attention to the fact Celina had been coming here. He nodded his head, “ I'm sorry boss.” He bowed, not bothering to make excuses, because he knew I hated excuses. “You can leave now.” I said and turned back to my work. Victor left the coffee on the table and walked out of the room. After working for an extra hour, I stood up and went to get comfortable on the couch. “Boss…” The faint sound of someone calling me stirred me from sleep. I opened my eyes to see the figure of Victor looming over me. “This has better be worth it, Victor” I said as I sat up and looked at him, I hated being disturbed in my sleep. “It is boss, Celina is here again boss.” Victor said Perfect! I thought to myself, Celina had the nerve to come back. “I tried to stop her from entering, but she was too stubborn. She said she wanted to see her friend. I didn't mention to her that you were home. What should I do boss?” I smiled, “Nothing for now, you can go, Victor. I'll take care of it.” I got up immediately Victor left and headed downstairs. I saw Celine walk into the lounge like nothing was wrong, all fake smiles and pretended innocence. “Cassian,” she said sweetly. “You’re back.” She wasn't taken aback by my presence, now that's something that piqued my interest. I stood there, with my hands in my pockets, and my posture relaxed. But everything about me was tight. Controlled. Barely. “I see you made yourself comfortable while I was gone.” She tilted her head. “I was just trying to keep her company, she was very bored.” I nodded once, then moved so fast she didn’t have time to flinch. One second I was five feet away, the next I had her pinned against the wall, my forearm pressed against her collarbone. Her eyes widened. “Cassian—” “Do you think this is a game?” I asked, voice low and razor-sharp. My eyes flickered gold, the shift barely restrained. “Do you know what I do to people who try to get inside my head?” She opened her mouth, but I didn’t let her speak. “You came here knowing exactly what you were doing. You came here to twist her mind. To make her question me. To make her fear me.” “She should fear you!” Celina hissed, pushing against my arm. “You’re a monster, Cassian. You hide it well, but I know you. I’ve seen what you are and only I can love you for what you are. She'll be gone the moment you reveal your real self, Cassian.” I leaned in closer, my fangs elongating just enough to make her freeze. “You’ve seen nothing. And I’ve let you live because I’ve been merciful. That mercy ends today.” Her breath hitched. “You wouldn’t—” I gripped her jaw with my other hand and tilted her head back. “You think I won’t? You think because I didn’t kill you when you stepped foot into my estate the first time, that I won’t do it now?” She started trembling. My voice dropped lower, more guttural. “You should be on your knees, thanking whatever god you believe in that I’m not ripping your spine out of your body right now.” Her eyes flicked to the door like she wanted to run. “Leave,” I said, letting her go. “And don’t ever come back here again. If you do, I won’t be so kind.” She stumbled as she tried to regain her footing, rubbing at her neck. “You’re throwing me out for her? Some weak little girl you barely know?” I didn’t blink. “Yes.” Celina stared at me in disbelief. “Get. Out.” She bolted to the door, but then turned before she got to the doorway. “Don't fool yourself Cassian, she can never love you for what you really are then she turned and ran through the snow towards her car. I stood there for a moment, trying to calm the beast inside. My breath was heavy. My hands were still trembling with the effort it took not to shift. This wasn’t just about Celina anymore. It was about Anya. And the line between who I was, and who I had to be… was thinning. I turned and walked out of the room, It was time to check on her. Time to make sure the damage hadn’t already been done. And if it had... I’d find a way to undo it. Whatever it took.
