“Come home with me,” Lucian said quietly.
My heart leaped out of my chest. I pulled back to glance at the man whose arms remained encircled around me in a protective vise. The day had dragged on for what felt like forever. The exhaustion had already seeped into my bones.
I could have fallen asleep. I wish I had. I couldn’t remember the last time I ever felt so safe. Then again, perhaps I never felt truly safe. Not like this. A manner in which I could easily let all my inhibitions down and simply bask in the embrace of his being.
My voice was laced with disbelief. “What?” I asked.
