  All day, people whispered when I walked past. Some bowed their heads. Some stared at the strange mark on my arm… the long wolf-eye shape that shouldn't have been there. And some just looked confused, like they were trying to figure out what I truly was.   But none of that bothered me as much as the one thing echoing in my head:   "See you tonight."   Kaelen's voice replayed again and again until my stomach twisted.   Now I was in my room, alone, sitting on the edge of the bed with my knees pulled together and my hands curled into the blanket. My heart wouldn't slow down. I kept glancing at the door even though I knew it was too early.   Talia had helped me wash up, braided my hair loosely, and given me a soft nightgown…simple, but thin enough that I felt every breeze touch my skin.
