Chapter 6: Doing Homework Together Ji Aier and Ji En got into the car. It was a Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG. Ever since Ji Aier came to the Ji family, this car had always been used specifically to pick up and drop off Ji En. "Teacher assigned a lot of homework today." Ji Aier picked up her notebook she used for taking notes and looked at it. Almost every subject had homework assigned today. She estimated it would take until 12 o'clock at night to finish. "Old Li, let's go to the seaside villa." Ji En said to the driver, Old Li. He wanted to spend the night at the seaside villa today. "Yes, young master!" Old Li turned left at the intersection. This villa was bought by Old Master Ji as a gift for Ji En on his 14th birthday, so Ji En often came here to review his lessons. Ji Aier thought about how she wouldn't be able to finish her homework tonight. Whenever they went to the seaside villa, she was responsible for Ji En's dinner. Moreover, Ji En was extremely picky. If the food didn't suit his taste, he would unceremoniously dump it into the trash can and ask her to make it again. "What would you like to eat tonight?" Ji Aier turned her head and asked Ji En. She needed to have an idea in mind first, so that she could save time and effort and also try to find more time to do her homework. "I want a candlelit dinner!" Ji En looked at Ji Aier and said with a smile on his face, celebrating their first kiss. "Okay, how about steak for dinner?" Ji Aier immediately became alert. Whenever he had such a sly smile, it was usually the prelude to him teasing her. So she asked again. Moreover, the answer "candlelit dinner" was too vague. It needed to be more specific. "I have no objections!" Ji En said. Ji Aier also felt a bit more relaxed. Steak was the easiest to make. The key was selecting the ingredients and controlling the heat when frying. There were top-quality steak materials air-freighted from Australia in the refrigerator. All she needed to do was fry them properly. Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of Ji En's villa. Ji Aier went to get her bag and found that Ji En had already taken it down. She was really not used to this. Standing in the kitchen, Ji Aier started making dinner. First, she made incisions between the fat and the red meat of the beef, cut off the sinews, and sprinkled a little salt and pepper on both sides. She mashed the onion into a paste and peeled and mashed the carrot. She cut the leek into 4-centimeter lengths and rinsed the mung bean sprouts with water, then drained them with a strainer. Next, she put 1/2 tablespoon of salad oil in a flat pan and heated it over high heat. She put the mung bean sprouts and leeks in the pan in order and stir-fried them. After they were all coated with oil, she sprinkled a little salt and pepper on them and transferred them to a plate. Now came the most crucial step. After drying the flat pan, she put 1/2 tablespoon of salad oil in it and heated it over medium-high heat. She put the beef in and fried it to the desired doneness before taking it out. For medium-rare, she fried both sides of the meat until they were golden brown and judged its tenderness by pressing it. Finally, without washing the flat pan, she directly added wine, turned to medium heat, and added onions and carrots. She cooked them for a while, then added a little chicken essence, soy sauce, and pepper. When the sauce thickened, she added butter and let it melt. She cut the beef into edible pieces, plated it, and poured the sauce over it. The delicious steak was ready to be served. During this time, Ji En came to the kitchen to urge her at least three times. He was starving, while this little girl was still slowly pottering around in the kitchen like a tortoise. And every time Ji En urged her, it made Ji Aier even more flustered. When Ji Aier brought the medium-rare steak to the table, she knew a storm was about to break. Because Ji En never ate steak that was more than medium-rare; otherwise, he would think it was too tough. Ji En, who was already very impatient, looked at the steak Ji Aier put in front of him. He raised his head and glanced at Ji Aier unhappily and said, "Is this for human consumption?" "If you can wait, would you like me to make another one for you?" Ji Aier quickly said, reaching out to take away the steak that she thought was delicious but he thought was like pig swill. "I'm not eating. Make me a plate of spaghetti and bring it up later." Ji En said angrily and went upstairs.
