You shake your head after listening. “I’m not ready for this,” you say – and watch the butler’s eyebrows rise.
“Mistress, I beg to differ. You were made for this. The Master brought you here, didn’t he?”
“Maybe he did – but who is he? How would he even know me, much less know what’s best?”
The butler spreads his elegant gloved hands. “I cannot say. And yet, here you are, and I know he does.”
You frown but it’s hard to fight him – especially since you’re not ready to leave the House just yet, not while the key still swings on your wrist and the place is still yours.
“I want to meet him,” you say.
“Maybe you will. Or maybe you won’t. He’s a very busy man, orchestrating all of this for you.”
“But – why me?” you say.
“Mistress,” the Butler says, taking your shoulders gently in his hand
