It’s hard not to think you’ve made a crazy choice. But you haven’t gotten a job yet, and you tell yourself that [redacted] is a perfectly nice place to go. Perhaps you’ll just fly up there and wander around. Maybe you won’t even leave the airport. At least it’s not your hometown anymore, where every corner seems overburdened with memories. Which is why even though you doubt yourself, you’re at the airport at 2 PM in a nice shirt and skirt the next day. Your tickets are for first class, which you’ve never flown before. The flight attendants are pleasant and serve you lobster and champagne. The flight alone has earned out your curiosity -- you’ll have plenty to talk about now with new friends, once you make them. It’s only when the plane begins to circle to land that you get nervous. You have no intentions of actually visiting the House. This trip has just been some sort of crazy lark, probably a mix-up due to your somewhat common name. You’re still considering staying on the plane and taking the return flight back when the flight attendant comes by and tells you that your driving service has called to inform you that your driver has arrived downstairs. You’ve never had a driver take you anywhere that wasn’t on a bus. Key in one hand, and return ticket in the other, you take the stairs off of the plane. Past baggage claim there is a beautiful woman dressed in a tailored black suit holding a sign with your last name. You walk past her to see if she recognizes you. She does not – not until you return and come up to her, point at the sign and say, “That’s me.” “Do you have the key?” she asks, bright red lips parting with every word. You hold it up. You’ve wrapped the ribbon around your wrist and made a bracelet of it. At the sight of the key she smiles generously. “Please, let me take you to your car.” She takes you to the curb and instructs you to wait for her to return. You stand, nervously clutching the other plane ticket, as other passengers ebb and flow around you like a tide. It is not too late for you to turn around and go, not even when she pulls an expensive black car up, gets out, and holds open your door. Do you get into the car? If so touch here. Do you go back into the terminal? If so, touch here.
