His Mate

*Riley Preston Ugg! I hate under dressed girls. Especially Katie. She won't shut up and that voice is annoying. I know I look like a player but I'm not. I think its gross how some people have s*x every day with a different person. I was raised better than that and my mother taught me to respect women. Right now, Katie is sitting on my lap in the the cafeteria, talking about going shopping or something. I really regret leaving Nikki. I know she's my mate. The one person I've waited for since I turned fifteen. She's so different, not in a bad way, just different. I only left her because I wanted some sort of reaction out of her, but she didn't do anything. She's emotionless and her eyes look so dull. She's been hurt, I can tell, but how can I help her if she won't even let me be her friend. I already feel protective of her. I need to find her to make sure she's okay.  First I need to ditch this chick. "Katie, I need to get up." I state, trying to push her off but she wouldn't move.  "I'll go with you." she insisted. "No, it's fine. I want to go alone." I object. "You shouldn't go somewhere without your girlfriend." I tense. "You're not my girlfriend, Katie. Now move." I would just push her off but that would be mean. Ha, as if that would matter. "How can I not be your girlfriend if I'm sitting on your lap?" She smirks. I growl, slightly. "You sat on my lap as soon as you walked in. Move!" I say louder. She makes no move to get off so I mindlink my best friend, Rudy Thomas.  'Dude, get this girl off me.' I get a chuckle as a reply.  Soon I feel the weight on my lap leave. I look up to see Rudy grabbing Katie by her arm and setting her on a different chair. I watch as she tries to flirt with Rudy. He just looks at her in distaste.  "Blondie, please, I wouldn't have touched you if I had another choice." Rudy huffed. "Thanks, man." I inform. I rush past the cafeteria doors towards my mate's chocolaty scent. It leads me outside, towards the woods. When I reach outside, I search the field for her. I start to get worried because I can't seem to find her but I do smell another werewolf's scent. I walk to the middle of the field when I see my mate's bag next to a large tree. I jog towards it, not expecting what I was about to see. As I get closer, I see a larger red wolf curled up beside the tree, sleeping. At first, I start thinking that the wolf is my mate because it smells like her but that can't be. She didn't smell like a werewolf during class. I see my mate's lunch tray and her book bag but I don't see my mate. Suddenly, a twig snaps under my foot. The red wolf's head snaps up towards me. His blue eyes glaring at me. He growls, quiet enough so no humans near by would hear. I see the reason to his quietness. There's a girl curled up beside him. I hadn't seen her due to the fact that he was covering her.  At first, I think that she's his mate because he's protective of her but then I realize who the girl is. It's Nikki. My mate, not his. I growl back. Why is she with him? Does she know about werewolves? I know thst she's not one because she smells human.  'Who are you?' I ask the red wolf through the mindlink so I wouldn't wake up Nikki. Since I'm an Alpha, I can mindlink with any and all werewolves, even rogues. I can't mindlink with normal wolves, only with werewolves.  Rogues aren't evil like everyone says. They are just wolves that don't have a pack, they are like loners. They do need permission to enter someone's territory, though.  'I don't answer to you!' he snaps. 'This is my territory. There aren't suppose to be any rogues here!' I argue. 'Well, there is. You don't realize that you're taking over someone else's home. We have been here for over fifty years!' the red wolf snarls.  That's impossible. My pack checked the whole territory and they didn't spot any rogues. My eyes fall back down to my mate's sleeping form. 'What is she to you?' I nod towards Nikki. 'She's one of my loved ones. Why do you care? She has nothing to do with the werewolf world. She doesn't know about us. Leave her alone.' 'I can't leave her alone. She's Mine!' I bark. No one is going to keep my mate from me. Not after all these years of waiting. It looked like his is trying to figure something out. 'Will you protect her, always?' 'With all my life! She is my other half. I can't and won't live without her.' I promise. 'What are you to her?'  'I'm her brother. My name's P.J Night. She doesn't know that I'm a werewolf. She just thinks I'm a friendly, overgrown wolf. She has come to trust me, something that has never happened before.' he explains. 'How does she not know about werewolves? If you are her brother then why isn't she one as well? Is she adopted?' I question. 'No, she's not adopted. She's still seventeen. Her birthday day is in five months, in December. I will tell her before her birthday.' 'I'll tell her.' I insist with no hesitation. 'No! You don't understand. She has lived a hard life. She feels alone in this world. She only talks to me when I'm in wolf form.' 'What do you mean she has lived a hard life?' I pry. Before he can answer the question, Nikki starts to stir. 'We'll talk later.' I tell him. 'Okay. Meer me here on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.' P.J informs. 'When she wakes up, I'm going to growl at you, then I'll leave.' I nod, understanding, just as Nikki's eyes pop open. She doesn't notice me at first. When she does notice me, her eyes widen and she quickly sits up. P.J starts growling at me. I just stare at Nikki. "Red, it's fine. Go, I'll see you tomorrow. I love you." Nikki whispers.  I see a spark in P.J's eyes when she tells him she loves him. P.J licks her cheek and run off. Nikki smiles a rare smile that probably only the red wolf has seen. Without her walls up, I can tell that she's not as emotionless as I thought. She looks so beautiful.
