The secrets of the shadow pack

Chapter 7

Alexis

I latch on to my mom, and I tell her that I am not staying behind while she goes to the MidNight Pack. I need to make sure my best friend is alright, and it would be nice to make sure her older brother is alright too. Right now, we do not know anything.

"I'm going to shift. You carry the bag of clothes, and jump on my back," Dad tells me. I nod and do as I am told. I hold on tight as dad runs through the forest. I am just glad that their pack is not far away.

He stops, and they all shift and grab their clothes. Dad pokes his head towards the main gate entrance. "Looks like they tripled security. Let's go see what's going on."

"Go back where you came from, Alpha," I have never seen anyone speak to my father that way here. Dad puts his hands up. "We heard the call, and we just wanted to know what was going on, and to offer my pack and any services needed." I this moment, felt a terror that I have never felt before.

I can tell that the man at the gate is mind linking someone. "We are not taking visitors right now. Our pack is on lock down. You should go home, Alpha, and stand guard. There might be attacks tonight. Wouldn't want anyone from your pack getting hurt in the crossfire." Dad looks at mom.

"Where are Raine and Rosslyn? Who is in charge?" Mom asks.

"I am," I watch as my lifelong crush, Raine, walks over to the front gate, where we are all standing. He is so fine, but he looks so sad. His eyes land on me, and he gives me this intense stare.

"Raine," mom says, and he looks over at her. "What happened?" she asks him. "I am investigating that now." He looks at me again, and his eyes soften. "Is Rosslyn okay?" I ask. He shakes his head. "She's not okay, but she will be," he tells me. "Can I see her?" He shakes his head again. "I'm sorry, Lexi. You can't see her today. Rossy is the one who found our mother dead in the strawberry fields. I don't think she is up for visitors right now. You should all go home. It isn't safe here." he looks at Axel. "Take your sister home. Keep her safe," he says, and turns to walk away.

"Raine, wait. Is there anything you can tell me? You know how much your mother meant to me. How did your mother die?" Mom asks. He shakes his head. "My piece of sh1t father caused this. He became the traitor of his own pack, and he got my mother k1lled. There's nothing left to say. They're dead. Rosslyn is going to plan the funeral. She will contact you with the information. Go home. Oh, Alpha, if you hear any talk about a surprise attack on my pack, please let them know to come. I am not weak like my father, and I show no mercy. Whoever comes here will find me." He walks away. My brother lets out a breath.

"That's my dawg. Lets go prepare pops. If there is an attack on The MidNight Pack, we will be ready with our army to defend our MidNight Crew." Dad chuckles. "I have a feeling that people are about to f*ck around and find out when it comes to these kids." He tells mom. My parents never turn down a fight. They are so brave.

My family doesn't shift, we walk back home. My mother sobs the entire way.

That night, I dream of Raine's intense stare.

Rosslyn

After finding out that Raine planned to burn my parents, and not giving mom a proper funeral, I freaked out on him so hard, that I ended up in the clinic from a panic attack. That made him soften and he has allowed me to plan a funeral. I only have 24 hours, but I plan on giving mom the best funeral. I already started contacting packs so they can begin their travels if they'd like to come.

After Raine agreed on the funeral, he made me tell him everything I saw. He left with the guys to meet and plan. I'm just glad they all believed me, and Jake. Raine said he would tell me what he planned to do about Alpha Salomon. He explained that we can't just k1ll him, because he is some important Alpha, but to me, that is bullsh1t. If Raine isn't going to do it, then I will. I will find a way to get the proof. If not, I will sneak into his pack and k1ll him in the night. Jake and I are already planning it all. No-one knows. Atleast he always has my back. He actually agrees with me. That Alpha needs to pay for the crime he committed. We also want to prove to other packs that they can't mess with the MidNight Pack and get away with it. Also, a crooked Alpha shouldn't have that kind of power. All he will do is bad. He must be stopped.

I go through boxes and albums of pictures, collecting my favorites ones. I am going to make a memorial video to play. I also reached out to the members of our pack and asked if anyone would like to say nice words about her, to send them to me so I can include them. Some pack members volunteered to help me during her funeral. Our pack is a busy pack, and we have groups and classes that keep people busy. My mother created safe places for everyone in our pack, so I love how now everyone is comeing together for her.

I know she is with the moon goddess right now and so proud of her pack. She was so loving and loyal to her people. That is why everyone was so loyal to her. More so than to my father. The MidNight Pack loved their Luna.

"Rosslyn," the hairs on my arms stand when I hear those voices calling my name at the same time.
