Roisin sat with Chas Larkin well into the wee hours. She held his hand and talked of the beauty of Ireland. She called it the Emerald Isle, because, she said, "It rained all the feckin" time". It got a chuckle out of Chas who struggled to sleep. The bandages were coming off in the morning and despite reassurances from Nadia, his lovely doctor, he worried he would be blind. Nadia also said she was going to recommend a surgeon to look at his club foot. She thought it might not be as bad as at first thought and she did wonder if he exaggerated dragging the foot, emotionally, rather than as any overpowering physical need.
