Twenty-Two
Noell walked home from the hospital. What a strange day, outside and inside. Her heart was full after all she’d seen in that hospital room with Katty and little Bea.
What was that? What were they? They looked like little Christmas lights, only they moved! By themselves!
Had to be real because Bea and Katty kept talking like they saw them too. Like they’d seen them before.
Noell thought at first they were reflections from outside, like a car driving past and the sun beaming off the car and then it flashed inside, along the walls. Only the sun wasn’t out much. The cloud cover was complete. Odd for a late August day.
Or if the sun had been shining through the windows, they could have been dust specks floating through a sun beam. Gamma used to call them angel dust.
