I got to my feet, moving mechanically. I yanked open the closet door, which gave a hollow thud. Arthur's clothes were still hanging neatly inside. I grabbed them one by one, the fabric scraping against the hangers with a harsh rasp. His personal belongings were in the drawers. I found a bag and started stuffing everything inside, not bothering to be neat about it. Out in the living room, Arthur was still pleading with Lucas. "Mr. Harrington, I screwed up; I'm a total jerk.
