Chapter Thirteen Brian Fordham was amazed. And not unpleasantly so. Mood sour — more sour — after having been informed by Grace Norcross that he was to be on “Sheets” that evening — he had left the bar to Morgan Travis and reported to the young woman who was his boss in her office. She was standing by the window and looking out onto the extensive grounds when he had entered on her “Come”. She seemed in a contemplative mood and, recalling the last time they had been alone in her office and his inability to sit for a few days, he prayed he wasn’t the cause of her disquiet. If disquiet was what she was feeling at that point. As was usual, she was dressed soberly in a charcoal-grey two-piece, skirt cut to a point some five inches or so above a pair of shapely knees.
