Early the next morning, the doorbell rang, and my daughter immediately climbed out of bed to open the door.
When she saw Rowan standing at the doorway, her eyes instantly lit up. She opened her little arms and ran to him.
"Dad! You're back from work! I miss you so much!"
Rowan hurriedly bent down to pick her up, stroking her head as he said gently, "Did my little Ruby miss me that much? I miss you too, so much."
