Ashley pov: Ashley POV When my dad and I were playing and enjoying ice cream, I noticed Mom was very quiet. It felt like she was physically with us, but her mind was elsewhere. It wasn’t only me who noticed it—Dad did too. He had already asked her many times, but she always faked a smile and said she was okay. While we were playing, Dad won most of the time, but I still tried my best. Dad is not the kind of father who purposely loses just to make his children win. He always says that if he lets me win, I will never learn to win by myself. Instead, I would always depend on him, and he doesn’t want that. He wants me to win on my own. And I love him for that. I like trying and keep trying until I learn to win. I am not someone who gives up easily. After trying, I managed to win the last two games. Dad taught me techniques, but he didn’t make it any easier. I was so happy that I finally won—and more than me, Dad was happy too. Mom called us to stop playing and join her for lunch, as it was already lunchtime. So we went after keeping the carrom board back in its place. I was disappointed to see that the rain I thought would stop soon hadn’t stopped. In fact, it had become heavier, with strong winds. It felt like a thunderstorm. Dad tried to call Beta Uncle, but because of the weak signal, he couldn’t get through. Mom was too tired and weak, so Dad wanted her to rest. Dad announced that he would prepare dinner for us. He cooked very rarely, but his cooking skills were excellent. After the delicious dinner, I went to my room to read a story until I felt sleepy. While I was reading, I suddenly heard a loud scream. I rushed outside and saw my mom in pain. Dad was comforting her, but it felt like she was in labor pain. “Oh my God… our baby is coming!” I yelled happily. Dad turned his gaze toward me but didn’t say anything. He was very nervous and trying to call someone. Only then did I realize the situation. How would we manage this? If there was no network, how could we call a doctor or get help? From this far, mind-linking was impossible. What would we do? At first, I was happy thinking I was about to meet my sister, but now I was getting worried—worried for Mom and the baby. “Ash… baby… Ash,” Dad’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts. “Yes,” I whispered. I was so worried that I didn’t know what to do to help them. “Ash, listen, baby. Go and open the car. We have to leave now,” Dad said as he carried Mom. I ran and opened the door for them. Mom and I sat in the back seat, while Dad drove. I held my mom as tightly as I could. I knew Dad wanted to reach the hospital as fast as possible, but because of the rain and heavy wind, most of the roads were blocked. It took more than an hour than usual, but we finally made it. Beta Uncle and the doctor were already ready when we arrived at the hospital. I felt a little relief then. I waited in front of the labor room with my dad and Beta Uncle. After a while, Aunt came to take me home with her. Aunt is an Omega who works in the pack house as a babysitter. Yes, you are right—she is my babysitter, more like my own aunt. She is just like a family member. My mom also loves her. Mom never treated anyone badly, no matter their rank. She always treated everyone with kindness and patience. I must say she is a great Luna. She is my idol. I didn’t want to leave, but I knew it was Dad’s order, so I obeyed to make things easier for them. I wanted to stay until the delivery, but I knew I would meet them tomorrow, so I left the hospital with my aunt. After coming back home, I washed myself and went to bed to get some sleep. It had been a long day, and I was very tired. I hadn’t slept the night before, so the moment I lay down, sleep took over me within a minute. A loud noise woke me up. I looked around carefully—it was daytime. I didn’t know how long I had been asleep. I went outside, following the noise I had heard earlier. I saw everyone crying. Something was wrong. I wanted to ask, but before I could say anything, I heard our cook uncle say, “Now what will happen to the child? And what about Ash baby?” Why? What happened? What were they talking about? I heard another maid say, “I heard the Alpha doesn’t want the newborn child. He blames the Luna’s death on her.” Wait… what? Luna’s death? No… it can’t be true. It must be a nightmare. No… I must still be asleep. Someone please wake me up. I don’t want this nightmare. I cried, but it seemed they still didn’t realize I was there behind the door. Because Aunt said, “Shh… slowly… Ash baby might hear. The Alpha strictly ordered that no one should tell her anything about her mom’s death or that her sister is alive. We all have to pretend like nothing happened in front of her.” What? Is Dad really going to abandon my little sister? I remembered the promise I made to Mom. No matter what happens in the future, I must not leave her side. I ran. I ran to the hospital without informing anyone, because I knew they would try to stop me. I had to stop my dad from making this mistake. I had to go. I ran. I don’t know how long it took, but I finally reached the hospital. Catching my breath, I looked everywhere carefully. I couldn’t waste any more time. I started searching for my mom and sister. While walking, I saw Beta Uncle talking to a doctor at a distance. I quietly went closer and hid behind a wall. I just wanted to hear what they were saying. I know it’s wrong, but I had no other choice. I heard Beta Uncle say, “Send her to an orphanage. Make sure everything is done by tonight. The Alpha wants her far from him and this pack. So find a good pack and send her there. And not in our neighborhood. Is that clear?” The doctor replied, “Yes, Beta. I have already contacted two or three packs. They will respond soon. Don’t worry. The Alpha also wanted her identity hidden, so I have done what he asked.” Beta Uncle nodded. “Good. And prepare a death report too.” The doctor nodded again, and I felt my world break apart. To avoid making any sound, I covered my mouth with my hand, but I couldn’t stop the tears rolling down my face. I heard Beta Uncle again. “Wait… did you transfer her to another room? The Alpha doesn’t want her in the same room where the Luna is.” The doctor replied, “I’m sorry. We will change her room immediately.” “Do it before the Alpha arrives. And if you need anything, contact me,” Beta Uncle said before leaving. I held my breath for a moment. I just hoped they couldn’t smell my scent here. After Beta Uncle left, I followed the doctor. He said something to a nurse before entering his cabin, so I followed the nurse, hoping she would lead me to my mom and sister. She entered a private room, and I followed her inside. I saw my mom… her eyes were closed. Mom… please wake up. Please look at me at least once… Mom…
