Chapter 2.

I stood there staring at him, my mind racing. Why had he been waiting for me? Who was he and why was he stopping me now? How had I been so sure it was a wolf jumping overhead when it is clearly a man standing before me now? And not just any man. Even just the way he stood there, his tall figure and broad shoulders towering over me, I could tell that he was a man of power. Someone who was used to getting his own way. He was wearing a dark pair of shorts but apart from that, he was completely naked. That left me staring at his tanned chiselled abs and defined biceps that certainly made an impression. He was well build, that is to say the least. But what confused me most of all was why I felt such a strong pull towards him. I'd never met him before yet, I had the urge to run into his arms and lose myself in them. I should have been terrified, but for some reason I felt drawn towards this stranger. What had come over me? There was only one thing for it. I had to find out what was going on. “Who are you?" I asked, my voice coming out timid and weak. Not exactly the impression I was going for but, given the situation, that seemed to be all I was capable of. “I'm Archer. Alpha Archer," he responded roughly. His face remained impassive and I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking behind blank expression. “Nice to meet you, Archer," I shot back with what I hoped was a more even tone, finally getting the courage to hold my ground. "And what brings you here?" Something wavered in his expression, almost as if he was hesitating or unable to understand something. But it only lasted a moment before that hard expression found his way back to his face. "I thought it was obvious," he stated. "You. I've been waiting a long time for you.” He spoke slowly, as if it were a struggle to get each word out. Now I had no idea what was going on. I'd never set eyes on this man in all my life. How did he know who I was? How could he have been waiting for me to come? I had so many questions, I didn't even know where to start. “I don't have any idea who you are.” I responded uncertainly. “Why were you waiting for me?” In less than a second, he’d closed the gap between us completely and stood over me, looking down, with his hands held in tight fists by his sides, breathing heavily, almost as if he were unable to control himself. “Why?” he asked, his voice low and husky, barely more than a whisper. “You dare to ask why, when I can hardly breathe with you so close. I could smell you as soon as you stepped into the woods tonight, as delicious as the sweet morning dew. My body is drawn towards you because your body was made for mine, and mine for yours. We are meant to be together, to strengthen each other and help each other to grow. I’ve been waiting my whole life for you, and when you finally show up, you have the audacity to stand there and to ask me why?” He was breathing so heavily that he almost seemed out of control. I looked up at him to see his eyes, as black as coal, glaring down at me. I had to be missing something, and it was obviously important. From his stare, and the way he was speaking, it seemed as if I should know what he was talking about, without him having to explain. Even more, I had the impression that he fully expected me to be feeling the same way about meeting him, jumping into his arms at first sight. So why didn’t I? I mean, he definitely piqued my interest more than any guy I’d ever laid eyes on, but that didn’t mean I was ready to drop everything for him. He had a rustic charm to him, with his dark, masculine features and hard expression. It made me want to find out what there was underneath his hard exterior, to get to know the being underneath. But I certainly hadn’t been waiting for him specifically for years. I didn’t even know who he was! “What we’re you even doing out here alone at this time of night, on the full moon, no less. Don’t you have any idea how badly this could have ended?” With that, I had to admit he had a point, and it was the same one my mother always made me aware of. Everyone knew the forest was a dark and dangerous place, thick with magical creatures that could do unexplainable things. My current situation made it even more glaringly obvious. Here I was, standing unarmed up against a man almost double my height, who declared to have some sort of claim over me, flanked by two more men who also exuded power. And a few minutes earlier, I could have sworn all three of them were wolves. I melted into the ground as I thought about my current reality. I’d taken a chance out of curiosity and, no matter which way you looked at it, I was in a tricky situation. These three men had more power than I in each of them. The three together were unmatchable and I didn’t stand a chance. Depending on how things turned out tonight, this could be a very bad situation for me as it is. Why did I come out here tonight? Why did I risk myself entirely for a curious pull? What was I thinking? I looked up at him, matching his gaze but allowing myself to communicate with my eyes alone that I understood. I’d put myself at risk, and it had been dangerous. And now I was at the mercy of these three men. “If someone else,” he breathed heavily, “had found found first.. I would have never forgiven myself.” With that, his gaze intensified even further if it were possible and he bent down until his face was inches away from my own. I could feel his hot breath on my nose and I couldn’t help but want to be enveloped in his presence. He smelled of freshly chopped wood the closer he got, the closer I wanted him to be. His dark eyes were devouring me hungrily, as if he’d never seen anything so appealing in all his life. And for some strange reason that I couldn’t comprehend, I wanted to be devoured. I angled my face up toward his and reached up on my toes to close the distance as much as I could. I just had to be as close to him as possible. “You. Are. MINE.” With that, be bent down to close the entire distance between in, smashing his mouth onto mine. My body took over completely and I had no control of myself as I surrendered myself to him completely. His lips were perfectly shaped and we moved in sync as our mouths got acquainted with one another. I felt his tongue nudge against my lips, inviting me to open up to him, and I willingly complied. I wanted to be taken and I wanted to allow him in, to taste him and experience him to the fullest. He played with me, his tongue swirling around inside my mouth, exploring each area, and I pushed back with my own, matching his game and wanting to experience what he had to offer. It was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. Granted, this was my first kiss but it could always be this good, surely. If it was no one would ever stop. I certainly didn’t want to. I allowed him to take control and pushed back playfully as he explored my mouth and I his. He ravished me hungrily with his mouth, as if he depended on me to breathe and couldn’t break himself apart. His whole body was pushed against me, as if we were one, and it had never felt better. I could hardly breathe with all of the sensations and this feeling of completeness with this unknown man pressed up against him, taking my mouth with his. At last, he pulled away, breathless. I immediately felt the loss of his body against mine. I felt the unexplainable desire for him to come back and kiss me again, even harder this time. But instead, he stepped back. “Now, come with me," he commanded as he jerked his head and indicated for me to follow him as he turned.
