Alexandria POV
"What are we going to do? We can't just sit back and let him slaughter my babies," Sylvia says. I don't know what she expects of me. I have my own problems to deal with. F**king Zakhar won't even take my f**king calls. I can't believe he is willing to throw away decades of marriage over that weak American b**ch. I knew she wasn't worthy of my son the minute she stepped foot in my home.
I did everything I could to get rid of her and my son managed to find the stupid c*nt. I don't know why Dimitri just didn't snap her neck instead of playing games. Once she was gone, I could have convinced Ivan that Danica was the best choice. Now he has the two of them locked up and Sylvia won't stop crying. "I don't know Sylvia. My husband isn't exactly listening to me. He's pissed and won't take my calls. He is insisting on divorcing me and leaving me the f**king house and ten million dollars."
"Ten million f**king dollars is all our marriage was worth to that ba**ard." "What about Nickoli or Alexi? Can't you call them and convince them to talk to Ivan? Convince them to save our children, Alexandria," Maximus says. "You know Alexi thinks the sun shines out of Ivan's a**. He is never going to go against what Ivan thinks is his happiness. He fancies himself in love with the worthless waitress."
"My son, who has killed men for nothing more than implied disrespect, is allowing this woman to make him soft. He is the f**king Pakhan of the Petrov family, and he is acting like a love sick boy." "Then call Nickoli. He has always been the one that has tried to please you, Alexandria. Please at least try for me. Try for our years of friendship," Sylvia says. "Alright, I'll call him. I'll ask him to meet me here at the house." I pull my phone from my pocket. I dial Nickoli, and he picks up on the second ring.
"What do you need mama," he asks. "Nickoli, can you come to the house? I need to discuss something important with you." "What is so important, that you are calling me days before I take my bride? I have many things that I need to ensure are on track to give Jasmine the perfect nuptials," he says. I roll my eyes as I grip the phone. "Nickoli, please just come home. I won't keep you long."
"Fine, I will be there in twenty minutes," he says. Fifteen minutes later, Nickoli walks into the sitting room. His eyes land on Sylvia and Maximus first before they move to me. "What is this about mama," he asks as he sits across from me. "Nickoli, I'm not sure what to do. Ivan isn't thinking clearly, and he has locked up Dimitri and Danica. You know they are like family. I need you to talk to him, Nickoli. He needs to release them."
"Why would Ivan do such a thing without a good reason? My brother isn't one to act recklessly. There is something you aren't telling me, mama," he says. "There was some type of misunderstanding involving the waitress." He frowns before realization dawns in his eyes. "You are talking about Meadow. You are talking about Ivan's wife. Don't be disrespectful when you speak of the Petrov Queen," he says. I fight the urge to scream she is nothing.
"Nickoli, she isn't the Petrov Queen. I am the Petrov Queen. I am your mother. She left your brother and divorced him. She isn't worthy of your brother. Now please talk to Ivan about releasing Dimitri and Danica. They are family." His eyes never leave mine for a long pause before he reaches into his pocket. "What are you doing?" "I'm doing what you've asked mama. I'm calling Ivan to clear up whatever misunderstanding has led to him being angry enough to put family, as you call them, in the cells we use for traitors," he says.
"I thought you would talk to him in person. Make him see reason," I say, my heart pounding against my chest. He presses the phone and places it on speaker. "Nickoli, I didn't expect to hear from you brother. I figured you would be spending as much time with your bride as possible before the madness of a Petrov wedding began," he says. "I was, but I received a phone call from mama," he says.
There is a long pause of silence and I look toward Sylvia, who has tears edging her eyes. "Are you still there, Ivan," Nickoli asks. "I am brother," he says. "What did she want," he asks, his voice cold. "I'm actually here with her, Sylvia, and Maximus. She has asked me to convince you to release Dimitri and Danica," Nickoli says. "That won't be happening, Nickoli.. After what they did to my wife, their lives are forfeit," Ivan says.
Sylvia begins to sob and Maximus wraps his arms around her. "Have you found Meadow, Ivan," Nickoli asks, his eyes never leaving mine. "I have, brother. I have found my beautiful bride, and she is as beautiful as the day I placed my ring on her finger. I also have a surprise for you. I'll be bringing it to your wedding," Ivan says. "I'm happy for you, Ivan. I know how hard these last few years have been for you without her. I look forward to seeing Meadow again. I love you, Ivan," Nickoli says. "I love you too, Nickoli," Ivan says and cuts the call.
Nickoli stands and slides his phone back in his pocket. He turns to leave without a word. "Nickoli, you can't give up so easily." He turns back and when his eyes meet mine again I'm taken back by the anger I see in them. "Let me make something perfectly clear, mama, I have watched my brother suffer since Meadow left. If those two f**ks had something to do with her leaving, I'll gladly put the bullet in their heads for him but if I know my brother and I do. I have a feeling he will want to be the one to dole out their punishment on behalf of his wife."
"You can't mean that, Nickoli. The girl was an outsider. Not worthy of the Pakhan." He gives a dark chuckle. "Some might have said that about you mama," he says and leaves. F**k, now what the f**k do I do? I have to get Zakhar to forgive me. Make him believe that I agree with whatever he and Ivan decide to do. Ivan isn't going to change his mind. Which might be for the best. He can't know my part in that stupid b**ch leaving. Why the hell couldn't she stay gone?
