**Henry’s POV**
I looked at my watch—it was almost 4:00. Why hasn’t she arrived yet? She said earlier that she was already on the way. Maybe I should just call her again.
*Ringing*
“Hello.”
Why is the voice different?
“Hello, who is this?”
“Hello sir, the owner of this phone was brought to the hospital. Good thing you called, since this cellphone has a password and we didn’t know it.” The voice on the other line spoke quickly.
And I… couldn’t speak.
What did they say? The hospital?
“W-why is she in the hospital?” I asked a huge question, my voice shaking.
Please, please, I hope nothing bad happened to her.
But…
“Right now, sir, we’re still trying to figure out what happened. Someone saw her covered in blood, and it looks like a baseball bat was used by the suspect because we found one here—with blood still on it.”
What…?
Suspect…?
Baseball bat…?
Covered in blood…?
Hospital…??
Which hospital was she taken to?
Everything went dark in my head, and I couldn’t help but shout—
“Sir, she was taken to Ormal Healing Hospital.”
“Bro, where’s your girlfriend? Why is she taking so long?”
“Ohh, why does your face look so dark? And you even shouted earlier,” my friend asked, placing a hand on my shoulder.
“Take your hand off me,” I said coldly, my face still dark.
“Whoa, chill,” he said, raising his hands.
“There’s no girlfriend coming.
There’s no proposal happening.”
“H-huh? What are you saying, bro? What’s going on with you?”
“She’s in the hospital, okay? I’m going to see her. Damn this life!” he shouted in frustration.

**Third Person**
Henry left his friends, who were left wondering what was happening. He got into his car and went wild inside before finally starting the engine.
---
**At Ormal Hospital**
“Yes sir?”
“Nurse, Kylie Dantre?”
“First floor, E.R., sir.”
“Thank you, nurse,” he said, running as if something was chasing him.
“Mom? Dad? Where is Kylie?” he asked, but before they could answer, they broke into tears and hugged him. He was stunned by their reaction.
“S-son… Kylie’s condition… it’s not good,” his mother stammered through sobs.
“B-but I just spoke to her earlier… I’ll go see her now.”
“Son, they said we still can’t go in yet. The doctor hasn’t come out. The nurse who was inside just informed us.”
“What? You mean the doctor hasn’t come out yet?”
“Damn it!” he yelled, kicking the wall as the tears he had been holding back finally burst out. He punched the wall too.
“My son, please don’t hurt yourself,” his mother cried.
“Mom… I won’t survive if I lose her,” he whispered, collapsing to the ground as his tears poured out.
“My son, I understand. We’re here—you’re not alone. She’ll get better, as long as we have faith.”
Hours passed, but the doctor still hadn’t come out.
“Henry, son, please eat something. We bought food—you must be hungry by now.”
“I’m not hungry,” he answered blankly.
“Son, if Kylie finds out you’re not eating, she’ll scold you. Don’t think about negative things. She’ll recover. Just stay positive—nothing is impossible with God.”
“Mom, I have a question.” His eyes looked tired as he turned to her.
“Where are her parents?”
“Aren’t they in the U.S., son?”
“Yes… but do they know what happened to Kylie?”
“Ahh, about that—I already told them. They couldn’t believe it either. Even just hearing them over the phone, I could feel their grief. They’ll be flying back as soon as they can buy tickets. Of course, how could they not worry? She’s their only daughter, their flesh and blood.” Her mother sighed, then looked at him. “Now I have a question for you, son.”
“What is it, mom?”
“Why couldn’t I reach you when she was brought here?”
“Because, mom… I was preparing a surprise for her. I had my phone turned off so the surprise wouldn’t fail.”
“Surprise? What surprise?”
“I was going to propose to her. I even called her earlier, asked where she was, and she said she was on the way. I was so excited… but now, all that excitement turned into this nightmare.”
“My son…” his mother hugged him tightly.
“Son, remember—you’re not unlucky. Sometimes fate allows these things to happen to strengthen your relationship, to make your love tougher.”
“Thank you, mom,” he said, hugging her back.
“Ohh, when Kylie gets better, give me a grandchild, okay?”
“Mom! We’re not even married yet.”
“Hahaha, just joking! I want to lighten your mood.”
“Mama…”
“Mrs. Llon?”
“Shaina?”
“How are you?”
“I’m fine. What about Kylie?” she asked, catching her breath as if she had run to get there.
“She’s still inside with the doctor.”
“Oh no… what’s happening?” she asked, nearly crying.
Analyn came in behind her.
“How’s Kylie?” she asked immediately.
“The doctor hasn’t come out yet.”
“Oh no… I hope it’s nothing too serious,” she said, her voice breaking.
“Shaina, dear, don’t lose hope. We need to stay positive,” Henry’s mother said. Shaina nodded, took a deep breath, and looked at Henry, whispering—
“I have many questions for you that you need to answer.”
Yes, Shaina. It’s my fault. I was a careless boyfriend. And even I have so many questions that I can’t answer.
He nodded to her.
Hours passed, until finally—the doctor came out.
We all stood up immediately.
“Doctor, how is she? Is she okay?”
“Relax, everyone. Let’s wait for the doctor to explain,” Henry’s mother said.
“What’s the news, doc?”
The doctor took a deep breath.
“For now, her condition is stable.”
The heaviness in our chests lifted a little.
“But…” the doctor continued, making us all fall silent again.
“It’s a miracle Kylie even survived. If it really was a baseball bat that struck her, when we examined her skull, we found internal bleeding. And it wasn’t just simple internal bleeding. We were able to treat it, but… her condition is still very serious. That’s why…” the doctor paused, lowering his head, “…she has fallen into a coma today.”
“WHAT!!!” we all shouted in unison.
