The new school feels like a risk. We tour it on Thursday. Small classes. Security at the doors. Art program that doesn’t treat creativity like an extracurricular luxury. Zara walks beside me, shoulders tight. “You don’t have to decide today,” I tell her. “I know.” The admissions counselor is warm but direct. “We have zero tolerance for harassment,” she says. “But we also expect accountability. This is a community. Not a rescue mission.” Zara nods slowly. “I don’t want rescue,” she says. “Good,” the counselor replies. “We don’t offer it.” Something shifts in Zara’s posture. She’s not being pitied. She’s being evaluated. That matters. The first week at the new school is quiet. No fights. No whispers. No viral rumors. Zara comes home tired but not defensive. “How was it?”
