I pulled out immediately, shocked to my core. No way. This couldn’t be real. The mate mark shone brightly on her skin. She was human, a random human I’d just slept with. How the hell could she be my mate? We’d even completed the nuptial bond...what werewolves call the final claiming. A w***e? I stared at her sleeping face and shook my head. Nah. This couldn’t be my mate. My Luna. Never. Not when thousands of men could have touched her the same way. Dex groaned in my head. “She isn’t a w***e, fool. She’s a virgin. You were her first.” I frowned, mind-linking back. “You know a lot, bro. Spill.” Dex sighed, locked in, and went silent...like he was blocking me again. I clenched my fist. Was the hell wrong with Dex? This wasn’t the time for our bullshit quarrelling. My phone buzzed. Godmother. I stood, headed to the bathroom for a quick shower. The water splashed over me, but my head felt tipsy...like I’d been drugged. That explained why Dex passed out during the fun. Whoever thought they could drug me was insane. They didn’t know how hard it is to knock an Alpha down. Still, no doubt...this had been the best night of my life. Meeting my mate for the first time. Claiming her. Being her first. That part made my chest swell with pride. But how was she a virgin? Valerie’s girls never were. They came experienced—that’s why I got irritated with the usual ones. This girl? Heaven-sent. I needed answers. I’d travel to Cappadocia soon, Ephesus, the old man, had to explain how my Luna could be human when pack law says human mates are killed on sight. Too many thoughts raced through my head. But first..the execution. I stepped out of the shower. She was still sleeping. I hoped she wasn’t too sore. The mating bond was already messing with me..I never cared about anyone’s comfort before. I threw on something casual. Tonight promises to be some fun-filled killing scenes. I smirked. I left the room, heading downstairs. Then I heard her voice. Madrina? I thought she wanted the execution in Italy. She spotted me and shouted my name like I was miles away. My hands stayed calm in my pockets as I strode into the living room. “Godmother,” I greeted. She hissed. “When do we ever do executions in Las?” I motioned to a maid. She knew the drill..brought cigarettes and a lighter. I gave her one, lit it for her, then lit mine. She took a long puff. It calmed her. “Godmother, I had important business to handle. Business I couldn’t leave. So I moved the execution here.” I took a puff. “It’s my criminal. I decide. But I remember the law..execution happens today. Location doesn’t change that.” She didn’t look convinced. She stood fast. “Drexel! You were busy, huh? Busy with bitches? With women? While your bride...your wife...just died?” She paced. “We lost a $600 billion alliance because the daughter is dead. Now we pay them instead of receiving the money. Do you even have proper facilities here?” Cunning as always. She had the cash to cover it...she just wanted me to offer. I stood, cigarette between my fingers. “Godmother, I thought you weren’t coming. Since you’re here now, watching the execution in Las Vegas won’t hurt.” I walked past her. “When you’re in Sicily, do what you like. When I’m in my territory....do what I say.” I headed downstairs to Samantha’s old room, the one she used when visiting, and told the guards at the door, “Bring her to the basement for questioning first.” They nodded. I passed Godmother again. She was still on the couch, smoking hard, probably replaying how I spoke to her. Her problem...she shouldn’t boss me every time. I reached the basement. I loved the tools down here: irons, chains, hot whips, things that made blood sing. Dex mind-linked me. “You really think you can kill her?” “What rubbish are you talking about?” “Wait...I thought you blocked me. Why are you back?” “You’re not killing her, Drexel.” I hissed. “What are you on about? I don’t get you.” “The mating bond is blocking your Alpha instinct. You’ll realize later. Didn’t you feel drugged?” I froze. This was getting twisted. Annoyed, I paced. What was taking so long? Are they bringing the murderer down or not? Then Valerie walked in. I smirked..time to praise her. She got closer. I was already smiling, ready to tell her how she outdid herself. “Damn, Valerie. That girl last night? Best I’ve ever had. The stress relief, the energy....she pulled everything out of me. You finally sent a real one.” Valerie stared at me like I was speaking another language. I laughed. “I get it...you’ve never seen me praise your girls like this. But this one deserves more than praise. Keep her around.” She stopped me. “Boss… what are you talking about?” I frowned. “Valerie, don’t joke. You sent her. She knew my room..no one does except your girls. She wore a mask for identity.” Valerie shook her head. “Boss, I didn’t send anyone. My girls are on a plane right now, one-month vacation. And none of them wear masks. You know that.” I roughed my hair, frustration rising. What the freaking hell? While I paced, Valerie kept staring, confused too. Then Godmother stormed in and tapped my shoulder hard. “Your criminal escaped.”
