Jordan was beyond happy when I told what happened during our lunch and Eva was pissed at him. She went on her silent treatment completely ignoring Jordan and only talking to me or Jamie. As of James, he was enjoying the show.
"So how's your practice going, James?", Eva asked turning towards Jamie who was sitting next to her. I could feel Jordan stiffen in anticipation.
He didn't tell how he felt about the oncoming selection for the soccer but he was terribly nervous. Like he would piss himself if I kept talking about the selection process.
"The team's good, Eva", he replied cutting her conversation. He turned towards me and winked stopping my heart for a bit. Did he just wink at me?.
I even turned to check if there was anyone behind me. No one. James was looking at me with a playful glint and shook his head after he figured what I was doing. I turned to see Jordan in his phone and Eva was looking at her lap.
Close call.
It's been confusing lately because of James mixed signal. One minute he was winking and flirting, which I liked and next he didn't acknowledge my presence in front of other girls. I didn't let it too much in my head knowing his nature.
The walk back was unadventurous as Jordan and I bickered all way long. He admitted he was hella nervous about the upcoming selection and he thought there was high chance of James getting into UCLA. But he didn't see him play, I did. It was only fair to have Jordan as the team captain but James was better under pressure.
I stopped in my tracks narrowing my eyes at him. He really thought he wasn't worth it and I was going to prove him wrong.
"Jordy, what the hell?. Dude, you are like best player in the field and you've seen that body of yours and how many girls licked my shoes to talk to you. If you think James is attracting girls, I bet you can make any girl even some boys fall for you.", I completed my speech with a large intake of breathe.
His lips were playing a smirk and his eyes wanted more so I continued.
"You know I bet every game on you. Not because you are my best friend because you make zero, mind me zero mistakes in the field. I've seen you back up Jamie in most decision and hell I knew you are the master mind", I stepped towards him reaching for his hand, "Jord, I've seen Jamie make mistakes every now and then and I've seen you make up to his mistake taking the team to success."
He was full blown smiling down at me with those cute adoring eyes.
"If you were any other girl, I would've kissed you and made my girlfriend. But you are like my sister. Eww", he scrunched his face into a funny making me laugh. I hit his shoulder feeling his built up body beneath the shirt.
"If you are that desperate, an ice cream would do", I wiggled my eyebrows at him.
"Ice cream it is", he marched infront of me in funny way like a stiff robot.
Oreos and strawberry ice creams were the best one I had in my life. With Jordan being generous, buying me stuff I had no restrain to hold back. We went to the nearby mall, bought him a pair of shoes and notepad for me. I had tonnes of notepad for my mindless scribbling, yet I tried various sizes and paper quality.
After lingering around the mall here we are, in the food court punishing our mouths with food. Jordan was back to being cocky with me. I just gave him an ego boost which he didn't expect. He knew I supported him but admitting was different story. Like now he was acting all righteous and talking about the girls swooning over him.
I hit him with a napkin to make him shut up. He removed the napkin from his face and continued with 'as I was saying'. At one point I heard the guy behind me chuckled and Jordan was being too loud to bluff.
I ran out of the door leaving Jordan behind when he stopped to drink water. Jordan followed me shouting my name and carrying all the bags. He caught up to me pretty quick. I didn't make it to the elevator.
"Why are so fast?", he said breathing heavily. I reached for my phone only to find my sling bag missing. I cussed all way back to the food court.
I was relieved to find my bag sitting on the table and no one occupied it. I made my way to the table and snatched the back before turning towards the door.
Realization hit me like bricks. I turned to see the table we were sat. I blinked my tears away and started fast walking towards Jordan. It was too much.
I made it to the car without Jordan finding out that I was shitting my pants.
I dashed to my room, locking it behind me and tried catching my breathe. My head was throbbing as I clutched and laid on my bed in a fetal position.
My eyes were watering on his own and wetting my pink floral pillow. I didn't think it would happen outside my room and I felt completely normal. The usual feeling of creep didn't occur this time and it creeped me out more.
I closed my eyes only to relive the nightmare I experienced in the mall.
I took my bag and flung it over my shoulder slightly hitting the glass behind. I didn't realize until I saw the reflection of our table in the front door. My eyes widened in horror to look at our corner table with no table behind us.
And the chuckle I heard talking to Jordan was behind me. The whole time.
