Chapter 16

♣ Marie Smith ♣ Wednesday had finally arrived, and today, I'd be entering a plane. I was so excited, I could literally squeal, jumping the entire way to the airport. But then that'd only make me look insane, and instead of going to Germany, I might end up heading to a mental asylum. “You ready?” Henry asked in his usual cold tone. And again, I ignored that, actually sizing him. Hmm, I couldn't deny the fact he looked nice. He looked very hot in the white shirt he had on, topped with a black suit and trouser. His black shoe obviously cost thousands of dollars. And whatever cologne he'd used was the same when we'd gone to the dinner party. The one that strangely always sent my brain swimming. I shook off the feeling. What on earth is wrong with you? “Hmm.” A bodyguard appeared in front of me, taking my bags from where I'd dropped them on the floor, then sauntered out of the house. “Let's get going then.” He just started walking, not even bothering to be a gentleman and let the female go first. I rolled my eyes, rushing to keep up with him as he walked with the speed of light. Soon, we were out of the house, then to the car whose door was opened for us by a guard and closed as soon as we were both in. Once the driver started the car and we were on the road, he reached for his phone in the pocket of his pants and began doing whatever s**t he did on that thing. Not that I'd expected him to start a conversation, still it was annoying how he always acted. Again, why on earth did he get married to me? With a head shake, I retrieved my phone from my brown purse I was certain matched the brown mid thigh length gown I had on. When I turned the phone on, I wasn't surprised to be greeted by a message from mom and many more from the group chat. Mom- Are you already on your way to the airport? Safe journey hon, I'm praying for you here, alright? Me- Thanks mom. That's why I love you. Mom- Don't say words like that. You don't love me, and that would not be the last time you'll say such words. Me- Okay mom, I don't love you. Mom- Better. Mom- Enjoy your trip and have fun. Mom- Most importantly, come back home safe and sound. Me- I promise I will so don't you worry yourself one bit. Mom- Alright. Certainly that was the end of conversing with her, I clicked the group chat, reading all the messages, before sending one of my own. Me- Guys, I'm on my way to the airport. -Excited Emoji- Cherry- Have fun sweetheart, and send tons of pictures. Me- You bet. Me- I got a new camera just for this trip. Charlotte- Call me everyday, alright? Me- Alright, how about Caley? Charlotte- She's in her room, I'll go call her to join the chat. Me- Okay. Cherry- How's your frustrating husband? Me- Being the frustrating guy he is. I really can't wait for us to get a divorce. Cherry- Just a few more months to go sweetheart. You're really strong, you know? Cherry- I'll never be able to agree to an extra year. Me- I've lived one year, I think I can live another. Me- And perhaps, I don't want to ruin his social life. Charlotte- I'm back. Caley- I'm going for a job interview next week and I'm kinda nervous. Cherry- I'm sure you'll get the job. Just when I wanted to type a reply, the car came to a halt in front of the airport, startling me a little. Wow, that was fast. A little part of me jumped in excitement at actually going to fly in a plane of the first time. Yay! I returned my phone to my purse, surprised to not see any paparazzi around. Where were they? I'd expect them to joblessly (though that was their job) swim around everywhere looking for nothing in particular. A bodyguard opened the door, closing it once we had come out. Obviously, Henry just walked past me like I wasn't even there, then went to meet a female I hadn't realized had been standing there. As soon as I sighted her, something rose up within me. She was very beautiful. Too beautiful in fact. Her smooth, raven-black hair was pulled back into a sleek ponytail, accentuating her heart-shaped face. She had warm, brown eyes that sparkled with a soft, rounded shape, framed by long, thick lashes that added depth and allure. The gentle curve of her eyelids only enhanced the beauty of her gaze. The white shirt she had on was tucked so high in the mid thigh length skirt that it popped out her full round breast. Everything being topped with the most beautiful black heels I'd ever seen. Who was this beautiful woman? And why on earth was Henry staring at her like that? She flashed him a smile that could steal any man's heart, it made my blood boil. “Good morning Mr Smith,” she said with a small bow. A really small bow, I had to resist the urge to huff. Were they so close that she didn't need to show him much respect? I didn't like this person. Why was she even here in the first place? It was only when her gaze shifted to me that I realized I was still standing by the car. With a frown, my feet moved me to stand beside Henry, who stared down at me in surprise. “Can we get in now?” My tone came out sharp, only leading to him drawing his brows in further confusion. “Yeah sure, let's go in.” He turned to the female. “Is our plane ready?” “Yes sir,” her gaze flickered to mine, “good morning Mrs Smith.” Good that she knew I was his ‘Mrs', so she better stop throwing him that cunning smile of hers. I didn't bother replying, and just started towards the airport. “Let's go in Mrs Fila.” With that, my feet involuntarily stopped. Mrs Fila? She was a ‘Mrs'? Did that mean she was married? So that meant she might not want to throw herself at Henry. Maybe her smile was just what she offered everyone. That was great… Wait, why was that great? Why on earth had I even acted that way to her in the first place? What was making me feel relieved to know she was married. Obviously it wasn't jealous, because what I was feeling wasn't jealousy. People only feel jealousy when it has something to do with someone they love, and I'd obviously fallen out of love long ago. It wasn't jealousy, it was just… It was… Yeah, it was the fact I didn't want him going out with any female while we were still married because I never went out with any male. I was just annoyed, that's all. “You alright?” Henry's voice cut through my thought, startling me a little to turn to him. He was standing right behind me, towering over me. Again, the scent of his cologne had its usual effect on me. But this time, the closeness caused my heart to beat twice as fast. What was wrong with me? Mrs Fila walked past us, not turning back for a second as she left. After a second, I was able to gain my composure, though my heart rate didn't get back to normal. “Yeah, I am.” Then I rushed farther from him, wondering what had happened to me and why I felt that way. What on earth was that about?
