Chapter 2: Fear

1396 Words
Eleni's eyes flew wide open, and she was struggling as best as she could. The body pressed against her belonged to a very musular man by the feel of it and the sound of their voice. Her heart thumped in her chest. She snapped into fight or flight immediately, and she fought hard as she tried to grab at the mace she kept in her purse. The mystery man bat the purse out of her hand without even putting any effort into it. Eleni finally caught a fleeting glimpse of his face as he drew closer to her own face. He had rough features but was clean shaven and clean. His skin was pale but blemish free, much to her surprise. But if she was surprised by her attackers' features, there was one that stood out against the rest; his eyes. Although his hood cast a shadow over his face in an already dimly lit area, his eyes flashed red before he ducked and pushed her head to one side. Confusion overcame Eleni's fear for a moment as she felt cold lips brush against her neck. She didn't know what she had been expecting, but a romantic gesture had not been included in her list of concerns. Being mugged, killed, or something worse had been her first thoughts. Now, she grew uncertain and somehow less afraid. She could smell a light floral scent coming off of him as he held her head to the side. The fear came back in full force as she felt something pierce through her skin, though. It sent an electric pulse through her nervous system. It made absolutely no sense, but her attacker had either bitten her or had used some instrument to cut her neck. Eleni redoubled her efforts to get away, but the hand that held her felt as strong as iron on her wrists. Wriggle as she might, she was simply no match, even with her adrenaline pumping like mad. The pain and fear had her wound up, but soon, a new sensation overtook her senses. She could tell her life was in danger, but the edge of fear began to change form as she was helplessly pinned to the wall. Her body warmed up, and her cheeks flushed. The lips on her neck began to send shivers of pleasure down her spine. She felt warmth spreading in places it shouldn't be. Her ragged breath became more even and deep. She felt like she could melt into this moment and stay in it forever. Eleni tried to snap herself out of whatever feeling had overtaken her, but she felt herself falling further and further into the ecstasy. She tried to muffle a moan that threatened to leave her lips. She could feel herself growing weak, but she no longer cared about being attacked or what the outcome would be for her. She didn't feel like she had been attacked at all. Just when Eleni's mind had fully relaxed, her attacker suddenly jerked as if stricken. He pulled away from Eleni so suddenly that she didn't have time to react. She slid down the wall as soon as her attackers body wasn't holding her up. She barely caught herself before completely crumpling onto the ground and possibly injuring herself. She still felt dazed and confused, and her neck was wet. She put a hand to her neck to rub off what she assumed was saliva. She snapped back to attention when she caught movement in front of her. Her attacker was writhing on the ground a little ways away from her. She had a better view of him now. He was wearing all black, including a black hoodie, which had been drawn over his head. It was thrown back now as he rolled around on the ground, clutching his throat in pain. Eleni didn't know what to do. Her senses were attempting to make a reappearance, but she felt light and dizzy. She wasn't feeling the rush of euphoria she had been experiencing a moment before, but she still wasn't necessarily afraid of her attacker. She watched him with more curiosity than anything else. He was groaning and gagging and seemed to be in a great deal of pain. She studied him closely, but his eyes were screwed shut. She felt like she had seen them flash red, but she was second-guessing herself. She felt so numb and despondent. Nothing felt real at the moment, and she didn't know what to do. Black lines that looked like veins began to pronounce themselves all over her attackers skin. His eyes shot open, and all she could see was black, not red. Even the whites of his eyes had turned black. Large, leathery wings suddenly sprouted out of his back. That was enough of a shock to startle Eleni back to reality. She was still in danger. She had just been attacked! Eleni tried to scramble to her feet, but it was harder than she had thought it would be. she looked at her hand, the one she had touched to her neck. She was horrified to see it was covered in blood. Her blood. Standing was almost impossible, but Eleni managed to get up. She couldn't pass out now, not this close to danger. She was going to try to get away when she noticed the sounds of pain coming from her attacker had stopped. She looked down to where he had been in time to see his body turning into ashes. His clothes slumped to the ground as the wind carried off the particles that had just been a dangerous man. A dangerous man? Is that all she thought he had been? No. He was some sort of monster, Eleni decided. He had been drinking her blood, and she finally realised the truth. She had just been attacked by a vampire or something like it. That didn't make any sense, though. Eleni shook her head, desperate to be rid of such thoughts. She must be losing her mind. She blamed it on the blood loss as she used the wall to support her so she could get away from this place. She needed to get home. She remembered that she had dropped her purse before she went very far. She didn't want to go back for it, but her cell phone was in there. Maybe she could call for help. Eleni begrudgingly turned back and made her way back to where she had dropped her purse. It really wasn't that far away, but she felt like she weighed a ton at the moment. Her limbs felt like they were full of sand bags. She bent down to grab her purse, but her strength failed her. She fell down next to her purse. Her head was swimming through a fog of exhaustion and confusion. She managed to move her hand enough to grab her purse, but the world had begun to spin out of control before her eyes and the edges of her vision were going grey. She tried to fight it. She really did. But the blood loss was too much. Eleni realised that she might be dying right then and there. She wanted to panic or to cry out for help, but she didn't have energy even for that. If she could just rifle through her purse and find her phone she could at least call 911 and hope they would send someone out, but her hand wouldn't move no matter how much she yelled at it inside of her head. "That's it, I'm going to die here." She thought. Eleni let out a mix of a sigh and a sob. All she could make out in her vision was a blurry depiction of her purse, and her vision was going more every moment. Before her vision finally failed, she thought she caught movement. Eleni tried to stay awake, but the blackness hauled her down, down into the abyss. She couldn't tell if the last thing she saw was real or a dream, but she could swear she had seen feet walking towards her. At the very end, as consciousness left her, she thought the owner of the feet had knelt down beside her. She could swear they had knelt down to check on her and that a set of red eyes flashed in the night once more.
