Chapter 4; Crazy Guy

Anaya POV

A day before the full moon.

"Girl, what's wrong with you? Are you acting weird? Did something happen? Did Shaina use her bitchy scheme again?" Kelly asked while setting down the tray full of food. Right now, we're in the cafeteria. Like before, we're at the very end, far from everyone.

For the hundredth time, I sighed again.

"Don't mind me..."

The truth is, I'd rather be exposed to Shaina's scheme than to be exposed to Alaric.

"By the way, what are your plans tomorrow? Will you stay in your room or join me? We can check out the Plaza. I heard there's a celebration before and after," Kelly asked after biting into her sandwich.

"Celebration? For what?" I asked while frowning. Since my father became the alpha, he has demolished all traditions that come with spending money.

"Well, it's awakening... Perhaps your father wanted to show off... You know, for the Phoenix pack," Kelly responded with a smirk.

"For the Phoenix pack? It means everyone in our pack needs to be present in the Plaza, right?" It seemed like the large knife embedded in my chest had been pulled out. Alaric's focus was lost on me.

'That crazy bastard!' I muttered as I remembered the few times he had followed me. Technically, I couldn't call it the following because he had come before me.

"Since it's for them, they should be there... Also, my father told me that your father plans to marry Shaina to the Alpha of Phoenix, and they will announce it after the awakening," Kelly finished speaking, but her eyes were fixed on a table.

The table where Shaina was, and to my surprise, Alpha Ryan was also at the table.

"So it's finally happening..." I said shortly. "Then I'll see you after the awakening... I wanted to watch my beautiful family as they announced the good news."

"Geez, Anaya... I don't know what to do with you. After all the suffering and pain they gave you, you still want to witness the good news for them...."

"Silly... That good news is for the entire pack!" I replied with a smile. Kelly is my best friend, my only friend, but until now, I still haven't told her my secret.

"Yeah, right... By the way, can you come with me later? I really want to buy some new clothes, and I want your opinion." Kelly's eyes averted their gaze, she turned it to the left, and my gaze automatically followed.

'Damn it! He's here again!' I furiously said to myself, seeing the guy sitting in that direction. - Alaric.

"New clothes? Why?" I asked, sighing in doubt.

"What kind of question is that? It's normal for us to do that," Kelly said while blushing.

"It's normal for others but not for you... Kelly, you only buy clothes on your birthday or when you have a guy you like!" I said jokingly.

Kelly completely covered her face out of embarrassment.

"So the second one... You like someone," I said while smiling at Kelly, continuing to think about the identity of the man who made my friend's heart beat faster.

Kelly knows she's busted and knows how simple she is.

"It's not what you think... I don't have a boyfriend-I mean, I like someone but..." Kelly halted and sighed.

"But?" I waited. As far as I know, Kelly is easy to like, but that's it. This is the first time she's made an effort.

"He's from the Phoenix pack, and he doesn't know I exist!" Kelly declared. Her eyes were red from suppressed tears.

I was shocked. I wanted to meet this man. I wanted to help Kelly... but how? I'm worse than her. Before the tragedy in my life, I can say that many men also sent me flowers, letters, and gifts.

But I didn't pay attention to anything...

"But I have a plan. Tomorrow, at the Plaza... I'll talk to him!" Kelly declared. His eyes were shining and full of determination.

"Wow! Really? Then let's go and get you a perfect outfit that will definitely make your beauty stand out!"

"Thank you, Anaya..."

Kelly and I agreed to meet at the main gate after class. I was on my way back to my classroom when Lucas' group blocked my way.

'What now?' I asked myself in annoyance. Lucas is not ordinary. Like me, he is the son of an alpha from a different pack. He came here three years ago, and since then, it has become a habit for him to torment me.

"I have class, so please, let me through," I said calmly and tried to slip between Lucas and his minion.

"What's with the rush?" Lucas said as his grin widened even more due to my head hitting his chest. "Why? Are you meeting someone? Is that it? That's why you're in a hurry?"

I frowned in surprise. This was the first time Lucas had used this approach. He often overturned my chair, hid my books, and destroyed my relationship with my lab partner...

'What is this scheme? Jesus! My only prayer right now is to study quietly and not reveal my secret... is it hard to give that up?'

"What are-" I couldn't finish my sentence because Lucas suddenly grabbed my shoulder. In the blink of an eye, he had me in the storage room next to the hallway. His minion stayed outside, probably to stand guard.

"Tell me, who is that guy!" Lucas's voice was weak, but his anger was obvious because of the visible veins in his neck.

"What guy?" In this situation, I had to calm down. If I let my anger take over, my secret might be revealed.

"You slut! Don't lie to me! I saw you the other night in your backyard! Tell me, who is that f*****g guy?!"

'Backyard? Guy? What the hell is he talking about?'

'He is talking about the night Alaric caught you...' Hope said, helping me to remember what Lucas was referring to.

'Oh... How did he know that?'

'I smelled his scent that night...'

'The heck?! Why didn't you tell me?'

'Well, he is irrelevant, and l scent him on our way back.' Hope reasoned out. Before cutting the mind-link.

I felt Lucas's finger sink into my jaw, forcibly pulling up to see my face clearly. "Anaya, you know what will happen when I don't get what I want... so you better speak up!"

Should I be scared? Huh! Definitely not!

"Do whatever you want! Although everyone in the pack hated me, the truth is I'm the alpha's daughter! And the Phoenix pack is here because of me! Once they find out you're harassing me, death will knock on you!"

Lie...

Everything I said was a lie. Phoenix pack probably doesn't know my existence, but Lucas doesn't know that...

"The hell with the Phoenix pack! You are mine, Anaya! No one can take you away from me!" Lucas declared. His hand that was holding my jaw moved to my nape.

" f**k! Lucas! Stop!" I screamed and struggled when Lucas tried to kiss me. There is no way I'll let him rob my first kiss!

"Get away from her!"
