Anaya POV.
"Thank you..." I whispered. My head remained down, not because of shock or fear of what Lucas had done.
It's because of Alaric.
Lucas has alpha blood, and yet Alaric easily threw him off the wall. But that's nothing... The real deal is his overwhelming aura—an aura I only felt with my grandfather.
'What is going on? Alaric is not the alpha of the Phoenix pack, but he is too powerful.'
"I'm sorry..." After a few minutes of silence, Alaric said.
I turned to my side to check on Alaric. He is shaking, his eyes glaring at the ground. I also saw his deep sigh several times. Alaric is still calming himself.
Again, I remember the scene in the room.
"Are you ok?" Alaric asked after throwing Lucas off the wall.
"Y-yeah, I-I'm OK..." I stammered, taking successive breaths. If Alaric did not arrive in time, Hope would take over.
"Who the f**k are you to intervene?" Lucas roared. He stood up and prepared to attack again. "You're dead!" After that remark, Lucas lunged forward. With his claws, he attacks Alaric, who had previously backed away from me.
The Alaric in front of me was different from the man I encountered before. He remained calm, yet I could feel the danger.
Lucas' movement was fast, but Alaric easily avoided all of his attacks.
"Weakling..." After saying that, Alaric grabbed Lucas' arm and kicked him hard. Lucas flew hard, making the wall c***k.
"F-F*ck you... You will pay for this..." Lucas murmured before completely losing consciousness.
'If Alaric is this strong, then how is the alpha of the Phoenix pack?' I asked myself before letting go of the air in my lungs.
"Why are you apologizing?" I asked. For the first time, I genuinely smile.
"Anaya.... Tell me, does this always happen to you? Did that guy-"
"No, no... I don't know what got into him. Honestly, this is the first time Lucas has done this. Before, he was just making sure no man would come near me," I smile, shaking my head. Because of Lucas' declaration earlier, now I can see the real reason...
He wants me for himself.
" Anaya, that bastard will never stop! You need to end this!" Alaric is not suggesting. He is ordering me.
But what can I do?
"It's been a couple of days since you came. I'm sure you already know my story... I'm alone." I gave him a half smile while shrugging. "All I want is to live quietly, so I'm asking you, Alaric... Please don't tell anyone what happened today... Let's forget everything."
Alaric stared at me. His eyes were searching. "Hell no! You're not alone... Anaya, you're the future Luna of the Phoenix pack, and I—"
"Ha ha ha! That's funny! You're funny!" I laughed out loud at Alaric's words.
"Stop!" Alaric's voice is cold, powerful, enough to make me obey him.
I don't know why, but I remember my grandfather. My grandfather's words are laws, and I don't have the power to disobey him.
'His more powerful than me?' My grandfather told me I'm strong and I can easily disobey the orders of most alphas. However, he emphasized that not everyone... There are more powerful people than me... including him.
"Who are you? How can you?"
"Anaya! Anaya!" It was Kelly. She was waving while running towards me.
"Let's talk about this some other time..." Alaric said. He didn't wait for my answer. He turned and walked away.
"Of course! We will do that... I will not let it go... I will find out who you really are!" I uttered with determination.
"Who is that?" Kelly asked as soon as she sat down next to me.
"Ah, I don't know him... He asked for directions." I lied. Right now, I don't want anyone to know my connection to Alaric or the Phoenix pack.
"Hmm... he is a member of the Phoenix pack." Kelly commented, "... Oh, by the way, have you heard the news?"
"News? About what?" I was momentarily nervous. I didn't know if the 'news' was about the encounter between Alaric and Lucas.
"Lucas! The bastard prince was taken to the infirmary because he was beaten up!" Kelly said, her eyes shining. "They say his group's opponent is alone! I don't know if it's true, but damn, that guy is good! Gosh, Lucas is full of wounds and bruises!"
"Really? Did they find out the reason and the identity of Lucas' opponent?" I try to sound uninterested. Since I'm not mentioned, there's no reason for me to tell the truth and my part about that incident.
Kelly shrugged, "Lucas is still unconscious, and for his minion? Well, their mouth is sealed... Maybe they are waiting for Lucas," Kelly smirked. She loved what happened to the group because, like me, she was one of Lucas 'hobbies.
"Wait! Is Lucas still unconscious? Why?" I asked in disbelief. With alpha blood, Lucas' healing ability is faster than the others.
"Why? Because the goddess punished him!" Kelly stated while pulling me upright. "And for us, who are loved by the goddess, we won't even think about what happened! Our priority is my makeover!"
Kelly hugged my arm, so I couldn't help but walk with her.
We were about to go out when Nora blocked our path. This time, she wasn't with Shaina.
"You slut!" After that announcement, her palm hit my cheek. "You crazy wolf less b***h! It's your fault that Lucas is still unconscious!"
All eyes were on me and, like before, disgust reflected on it.
I looked at the ground while rubbing my cheek. I didn't want to prolong Nora's scheme because I was tired. With what happened to Alaric and Lucas, I'm done for today.
"Lucas told me everything! You filthy b***h! You-"
"What is going on here?"
The voice was coming from inside the classroom. That's why all attention was focused there, waiting for the owner's voice to come out.
"Oh, my god! It's Alpha Ryan!" the onlookers whispered when they recognized the newcomer. Shaina and Alaric followed him.
'Bloody hell! I want to go home!'
"Great! The Crescent Eclipse pack is indeed remarkable!" Alaric stared with his deadly glare. He walked past Shaina and Alpha Ryan and stopped five inches away from me.
Nora stepped back as her eyes flicked between me, Alaric, Alpha Ryan, and Shaina.
"Answer him, Nora," Shaina ordered.
"Slap her back," Alaric ordered.
