CHAPTER 8

1117 Words
The days flew by so quickly and before I knew it, it was already a month since I came to the pack. The most comfortable moment for me was when I could take off the mask on my face and finally be myself with someone. Well, the man I called my husband was nowhere to be seen, the last I saw of him was the day I saw him at the combat field and since then he hasn't been anywhere in sight. Those few days after I saw myself walking around the pack and getting to know as many people as possible. They were all kind and welcomed me with so much warmth that I had never received before. Tonight as I stood in front of a large mirror getting ready for dinner with the alpha of the pack, the smile on my face wasn't unwavering, the man welcomed me with open arms and there is never a day he doesn't make me feel so much better for being here. Finally, it seems all was getting better in my life, yes that is what I'm hanging on to. "Wow, you look so beautiful, my princess." Jessica's face glowed as she looked at me quickly nodding in acceptance with the dress I had chosen for the night. A perfect black round-neck long dinner dress exudes elegance and sophistication, ideal for a formal evening. Crafted from a smooth and flowy fabric like satin or silk for a luxurious shine, the dress features a fitted bodice that gently flares into an A-line style skirt for a graceful silhouette. The classic round neckline offers timeless simplicity, while sleeve options range from sleeveless for a sleek look to long-fitted sleeves for added elegance. Subtle details, such as a beaded waistband or a thigh-high slit, add a touch of allure and sophistication. Floor-length for dramatic effect, this dress pairs beautifully with high heels, a clutch, and minimalistic jewelry for a polished and chic dinner ensemble. It was everything that I had wished to wear. A sudden frown appeared on my face as I thought of the moment I saw the dress, I thought of my sister, knowing this dress would have been her first option as well. Not that I'm competing to be her right now, I am myself and wish for nothing else. "Come with me, you are perfect just as you are." Jessica couldn't keep to herself as she held my arm with my holding the clutch to myself as we walked out of the room. It was a minute walk to the grand hall, and before I set my foot into the hall I knew he was there. Was it the elegance in the air? Or the smell of his that never wanted to leave my nostrils whenever he was around. Now I can feel the nerves that I thought I had left behind come to me. The thought of seeing him, and for him to see me like this, dressed in this beautiful gown and looking as splendid as I did, I don't know if it should excite me or make me uncomfortable. Holding my breath I walked into the hall and I froze looking at the hall as it filled to the brim. "My daughter-in-law." The alpha gestured towards me as he noticed me and just like that everyone was looking at me, except him. He had his face down as he looked at his phone, there was a frown there, like he would rather be anywhere else than be here with me. It made my stomach tight in different knots as I walked more to the hall and his father gestured for me to sit beside him. "I know you have missed your husband." The smile on his face was full as he looked at the both of us. Still not a single glance from my so-called husband. Using that time to sit, my eyes glanced through the hall as it tried to identify as many people as possible. They all had a smile on their faces as they nodded to me, there was something non-genuine about the smile, I tried to make sense of it but nothing was coming to me. The minute he adjusted and his eyes glanced my way, I stiffened as I waited. I don't know what I was waiting for but I waited still. When he didn't say a thing or acknowledge my presence there, I knew there was no need to hold my breath and I calmed my jumping wolf down as I sat still. A click in the glass made our faces rise as we looked at the alpha as he stood with a grin on his face. "This is a dinner to welcome my son from a peaceful meeting with the people of New Haven pack, as we all know, it was a huge success and they are willing to share the land in which we have been fighting for." There was enough shouting and acceptance as he said those words, I have no idea what was going on but I still smiled so hard. "What do you think you are doing??" His words vibrated to my side and I stiffened as u slowly turned and looked at him. There are traces of beard on his face, it was like he hadn't shaved for the past few days and god he looked so good. If I say Williams was handsome before?? This is a new level of handsomeness staring at me right now. The hairs on his face, the way he left his hair to grow out, and somehow that made him look more hot with the longer hair. I don't stop myself as I just let my eyes wander through his body as I stare hard. Even with the frown that adored his face, he looked at me like I wasn't meant to be there, there were enough words that came out of his lips and yet he didn't say a thing. "And let's welcome the people of Moonshine Pack as they celebrate with us." My ears rang out and I turned immediately towards the door as I told myself I hadn't heard correctly. Everyone seems to be staring at the door as we wait for my people to emerge from there. And then she came out, looking as splendid as she always does and I knew instantly I wasn't the only one that was raptured by her appearance. Standing right there at the door with a smile that held everyone captive was my sister. Her eyes met mine and I tightened my hand by my side as I gripped harder, what the hell is she doing here??
