After meeting Alpha King Morris, nothing felt normal anymore.
Lila tried convincing herself the strange feelings around him meant nothing.
But her body refused to listen.
Every time he entered a room, her heart reacted instantly.
Every glance from him made her chest warm strangely.
And worst of all…
The closer he got to her, the more restless she became inside.
Something hidden within her was waking up.
Three days later, Lila carried supplies toward the training grounds when she suddenly heard shouting nearby.
Two warriors had cornered a younger omega near the storage area.
“She belongs to the lower ranks,” one of them sneered. “Know your place.”
The frightened girl looked ready to cry.
Without thinking, Lila stepped forward.
“Leave her alone.”
The warriors laughed immediately.
“And what exactly are you going to do about it?”
Lila swallowed nervously but stood her ground.
“She didn’t do anything wrong.”
One warrior moved closer threateningly.
“You rejected wolves should learn when to stay quiet.”
Before Lila could react, a cold voice echoed behind them.
“Did I give either of you permission to touch her?”
Everything froze.
The warriors immediately paled.
Alpha King Morris approached slowly, his silver eyes filled with dangerous calm.
“Your Majesty—”
“Leave.”
That single word carried enough authority to send both warriors running instantly.
The younger omega hurried away too.
Leaving only Lila and Morris alone again.
An awkward silence followed.
Morris looked down at her carefully.
“You always defend others before yourself.”
Lila looked away shyly. “I just didn’t like what they were doing.”
A faint smile almost touched Morris’s lips.
Almost.
“You haven’t changed.”
Again with those words.
Like he knew her better than she knew herself.
Lila finally gathered courage to ask, “Why do you keep saying that?”
Morris stared at her quietly for a long moment.
Then softly said—
“When we were children, you used to protect injured wolves even when you were scared.”
Lila froze.
The blurry childhood memories returned again.
A river.
Laughter.
Silver eyes.
“You…” she whispered slowly.
Morris stepped closer.
“Yes.”
The connection between them instantly intensified.
Lila’s breathing became uneven.
Her chest tightened painfully as warmth spread beneath her skin.
Morris noticed immediately.
His expression darkened slightly.
“You feel it too.”
It wasn’t a question.
Lila panicked and stepped backward quickly.
“No—I don’t know what this is.”
Morris’s gaze softened.
But before he could speak—
“Lila.”
Alpha Kael’s voice cut through the moment sharply.
Both turned.
Kael stood several feet away watching them with obvious anger.
His eyes lingered on the distance between Morris and Lila before narrowing dangerously.
For some reason…
He looked furious.
