Episode 5__The Secret Protector

Kael’s dark gaze remained fixed on Lila. “Come here,” he ordered coldly. Lila hesitated. For some reason, standing beside Morris felt safer. That alone confused her. Kael noticed the hesitation immediately, and his expression darkened further. “I said come here.” Morris suddenly spoke before Lila could move. “She isn’t one of your warriors. Stop ordering her around.” The tension between both Alphas instantly sharpened. Lila nervously looked between them. Kael stepped closer slowly. “She belongs to my pack.” Morris’s silver eyes hardened. “That doesn’t mean she belongs to you.” The atmosphere became suffocating. Lila quickly stepped forward before things escalated. “I should go,” she whispered. Without waiting for permission, she hurried away from both men. But even as she walked, she could still feel their gazes following her. Especially Morris’s. That night, Lila couldn’t sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, she remembered the strange warmth she felt around the Alpha King. It felt comforting. Natural. Unlike the painful bond she always felt around Kael. Suddenly— A loud crash echoed outside her quarters. Lila sat up instantly. Voices followed. Then footsteps. Heavy ones. Fear crawled into her chest. Slowly, she reached for the door and peeked outside. Nothing. The hallway was empty. But the air smelled strange. Blood. Lila’s heartbeat quickened. She carefully stepped outside and followed the scent toward the back of the omega quarters. The deeper she went, the colder the night became. Then she saw it. A dead rogue wolf lying near the forest edge. Lila gasped softly. Its throat had been brutally slashed. Fresh blood stained the ground beneath it. But what terrified her most— The rogue had been heading toward her room. Fear wrapped tightly around her chest. Who would send rogues inside pack territory? And why near her quarters? A sudden movement behind her made her spin around instantly. Morris emerged from the shadows calmly. Not a single strand of hair out of place. But there was blood on his gloves. Lila froze. Morris looked at the dead rogue briefly before his gaze returned to her. “You shouldn’t be out here alone.” Her voice trembled slightly. “What happened?” “Nothing you need to worry about.” But his tone said otherwise. Lila looked down at the blood on his hands. Realization slowly hit her. “You killed it.” Morris didn’t deny it. Silence followed. Then Lila quietly asked the question bothering her most. “Was it coming after me?” Morris’s jaw tightened slightly. “Yes.” Fear spread through her immediately. “Why?” Morris stepped closer. Close enough for her to feel his warmth again. “Because someone wants you dead.” Lila’s breathing stopped for a second. “That’s impossible. I’m nobody.” Morris’s expression changed instantly. Almost offended. “You are far from nobody.” The intensity in his voice made her heart race again. Before she could respond, Morris gently removed his gloves and reached toward her face. Lila froze completely. His fingers brushed softly against a small cut near her cheek she hadn’t noticed earlier. The moment he touched her skin— A powerful spark shot through both of them. Lila gasped sharply. This time, glowing silver energy flickered visibly around her fingers before vanishing again. Morris’s eyes darkened immediately. Not with fear. With certainty. He knew exactly what it meant. But Lila didn’t. “What… was that?” she whispered shakily. Morris stared at her silently for a long moment before answering softly— “Your wolf is trying to wake up.”
