Episode 2__The Lie Of Faith

393 Words
Days passed after the rejection. But the pain never left. Lila continued living inside Silver Ridge Pack while everyone treated her like a joke. “She really thought the Alpha wanted her.” “How embarrassing.” “No wonder he rejected her publicly.” Their whispers followed her everywhere. Still… Lila couldn’t let go. Because despite Kael’s rejection, her heart still reacted whenever he was near. Sometimes she caught him staring at her from across the training grounds. Other times, his expression would briefly soften before turning cold again. Those tiny moments gave her false hope. Hope became her weakness. One evening, Lila carried food into the Alpha Hall for a gathering. The moment she entered, the atmosphere shifted. Kael sat beside his warriors discussing pack matters. The second his eyes landed on her, irritation crossed his face. “You again?” The words stabbed painfully. Lila lowered her gaze. “I brought the food.” “Leave it and go.” His tone was sharp enough to silence the room. Embarrassment burned through her chest. But before she could move away, one of the warriors smirked. “Careful, Lila. The Alpha might reject you twice.” Laughter erupted. Lila clenched the tray tightly. Kael said nothing to stop them. That silence hurt worse than the mockery itself. She quietly placed the food down and hurried outside before the tears could fall. The cold night air greeted her immediately. Finally, the tears escaped. “Why?” she whispered brokenly. Why did fate choose someone who hated her? Why did her heart still run toward him despite the pain? And why… Why did the bond still feel alive? Suddenly, footsteps approached behind her. Lila quickly wiped her tears. An unfamiliar scent reached her first. Powerful. Dangerous. Royal. She slowly turned— And froze. A tall man stood beneath the moonlight wearing a black coat marked with the royal crest. Silver eyes locked onto hers instantly. For a moment, the entire world seemed to stop breathing. Lila’s chest tightened painfully. Not like before. This feeling was different. Deeper. Warmer. Terrifying. The stranger stared at her intensely, shock flashing across his face. Almost like he recognized her. Then his expression darkened with something possessive. “Who hurt you?” he asked quietly. And for the first time in years… Someone sounded angry on her behalf.
