Episode 3__The Return Of The Alpha King

582 Words
Lila stared speechlessly at the stranger before her. Something about him felt strangely familiar. Dangerously familiar. The silver-eyed man slowly stepped closer, his gaze fixed entirely on her tear-stained face. Before Lila could speak, hurried footsteps echoed behind them. The warriors from the Alpha Hall suddenly froze the moment they saw him. Then immediately bowed. “Your Majesty.” Lila’s eyes widened. Your Majesty? The man standing before her was— “Alpha King Morris has returned,” one of the warriors announced nervously. The Alpha King. The ruler above all Alphas. Lila instinctively stepped backward. She had heard stories about him her entire life. Powerful. Untouchable. Merciless to enemies. But the way he looked at her now didn’t feel merciless. It felt personal. Morris’s eyes never left hers. “Answer my question,” he said quietly. “Who hurt you?” Lila quickly lowered her gaze. “It’s nothing, Your Majesty.” A dangerous silence followed. Then Morris looked toward the warriors. “Leave.” Nobody hesitated. Within seconds, they disappeared completely. Lila’s heart pounded nervously as she found herself alone with him. The moonlight illuminated his sharp features, making him look even more intimidating up close. Yet strangely… She didn’t feel afraid. She felt drawn to him. And that terrified her. Morris studied her carefully, almost like he was searching for something. Or remembering. “You’ve grown,” he murmured softly. Lila frowned slightly. “Have we met before?” For the first time, emotion flickered across his face. Pain. Longing. Regret. But it vanished quickly. “Years ago,” he replied quietly. Lila searched her memories desperately. A blurry image surfaced. A boy with silver eyes laughing beside a river. A warm hand holding hers. Then nothing. The memory disappeared before she could grasp it. “I… don’t remember,” she admitted honestly. Morris looked away briefly, hiding something in his expression. “You were younger then,” he said. Before Lila could ask more questions, another voice interrupted coldly. “What are you doing here?” Alpha Kael emerged from the hall with dark fury in his eyes. The atmosphere instantly became tense. Kael’s gaze shifted between them before landing on Lila. “Why are you standing so close to him?” Lila blinked in surprise. Was that… jealousy? Morris stepped slightly in front of her. The movement was subtle. Protective. “She was crying,” Morris answered calmly. Kael’s jaw tightened immediately. “That has nothing to do with you.” Morris’s silver eyes darkened. “It does if someone in your pack made her cry.” The air between both Alphas became suffocatingly heavy. Lila nervously stepped backward. She didn’t understand why Kael suddenly looked angry. He was the one who rejected her. So why did his eyes burn every time Morris looked at her? Kael’s cold gaze returned to Lila. “Go back to your quarters.” The command sounded sharp. Lila quietly nodded and turned away immediately. But before leaving, she accidentally brushed past Morris. The moment their skin touched— A violent spark exploded through her body. Lila gasped softly. So did Morris. For one terrifying second, glowing energy flickered beneath her skin before disappearing completely. Nobody else noticed. But Morris did. His eyes widened slightly. Then realization crashed across his face. Lila hurried away before anyone could see her confusion. Meanwhile, behind her— Morris slowly clenched his fists. Because after years of searching… He had finally found her. His true mate.
