She couldn't hear anything until the noise of a crying woman was ringing in her ears. Ynna opened her eyes and saw a beautiful woman with long straight brunette hair, pale white skin, brown eyes, and lips that were red as a cherry. She is also taller than her. On her estimate, the woman’s height is five feet six inches. She has a familiar aura. Ynna stared at the woman’s face until she recalled a name.
“Reina! Your name is Reina Del Rosario, right?”
The woman slightly nods her head. She is still crying her eyes out, like a baby who is busy throwing tantrums out of stress. Reina’s sobbing started to irritate Ynna, who was busy checking out the place. It is a vast land, a lot of grass and flowers that don’t know what name is scattered everywhere. The sky is painted orange, red, purple, and black; like the sunset. The aroma from the flowers is clinging to Ynna’s nostrils. She’s not a fan of flowers but she likes the lingering scents. The cold breeze is making both of them shiver.
"What am I doing here? Am I… dead?” Ynna asks herself, but her attention is fixed on Reina.
“W-will you give me a favor?” Reina asks out of the blue, trying to use her hands to erase the traces of her tears.
"What do you want? Besides, I don’t get it. Why are you here? You’re not even a true human being. You’re just a fictional character from a nonsense novel who glorifies adultery.”
Reina’s eyes started to well up in tears again. “You… I… I know what you want.”
Ynna’s eyebrows started to raise. “What do you mean?”
"You… You want my life, right? I can give it to you.”
“What? Your pathetic life as someone who commits death upon yourself? I don’t want your life. I need my Mom.” Ynna turned her back from Reina and started walking. “If I’m really dead, then I need to reincarnate fast. My mother will be alone if I’m not around.”
“But… Reincarnation is not true, you know? If you really want to live again, you have to live like me…” Reina’s tone was full of certainty. “Your body is dead. You are dead. But if you choose to be me, live as Reina, then you will have a second chance in life.”
Ynna stopped. She’s weighing the truth from Reina’s words. It was actually tempting. She wants to live more. She wants to achieve more. She is just starting to live comfortably. It is not enough. She wants to see her mother. But if it’s not possible, then maybe she should live for herself, right? “What do you want from me?”
Reina’s smile was gentle. “Nothing… I… I just want to spend time with my father.”
“You want to go back to him?”
“Yes… I want to tell him that he was right. Everything he said… was right.” Reina’s eyes were swollen because of too much crying, but her smile was warm and full of contentment.
“I see…” Ynna ran towards Reina and hugged her in silence. She felt sorry for Reina. The woman is weak, but she acknowledges that weakness and wants to have another chance. Even though she is no longer inside her body, the memories of her life are embedded in the brain, being in sync with Ynna’s past life memories.
A blinding light came out of Reina’s body. Ynna felt a strong current taking her inside of it. The feeling is warm, light, and tender. She felt like she was floating in the clouds until she opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was a protruding light, plastered on the ceiling. The temperature in the room is cold, the air conditioner is at 20 degrees Celsius. Her bed is soft and bouncy, a well-made water bed. It was her first time to try such a luxury, yet her body was already accustomed to it.
Ynna stands up and stares at her own reflection in the window. “From now on, you’re no longer Ynna Cruz. You will live as Reina Del Rosario.”
After that, she entered the bathroom. She wanted to use the shower to freshen up. It was a quick bath and only took her ten minutes. She scans the room. The king-sized bed in the middle is enormous for her stature. Two bedside tables with Victorian-style desktop lamps, a vanity mirror, and a table on the right side of the room with the walk-in closet on the side. The bathroom with smoked glass wall panels is on the left. Aside from the small picture frame of Reina and Alejandro, it doesn’t have any trace of a couple’s bedroom that has been married for only a year. It is supposed to be warm, full of pheromones of love, yet the atmosphere feels like the marriage is on the brink of divorce. It was depressing, but Reina didn’t care at all.
She chose a rosy pink knee-length dress, three-inch cream-colored stilettos, and a nice white fur jacket. They are the most decent clothes Reina has. All of the clothes there were either old or plain t-shirts and pairs of rugged jeans. As a daughter of a billionaire, it is quite shocking.
“No one needs these baggy clothes anymore.” She pulled and collected the clothes there. Put them in a box and seal them off. She wanted to burn it but on second thought, giving it to less fortunate people was a good idea. She put the boxes in Reina’s car. It was an old model of the N brand but it is more stylish compared to her old car. She started the engine and didn’t spare any glance at the house she left. Reina wandered the streets, giving clothes to homeless people. Reality struck her head. Even in a novel, a fictional world, the difference in social status is not far from reality.
After her good Samaritan deeds, she uses the W app to locate Reina’s father – her father – and drives her way to the Empire's building. Don Mauro Del Rosario, a second-generation billionaire from a wealthy family, flourished in the Empire to be a well-known contractor and owner of various real estates and invested his money in subsidiaries connected to a lot of business enterprises. He is known as a business tycoon with a strict personality.
It is a one hundred twenty-foot skyscraper with forty floors – a building named Empire by her father. The time is past twelve in the afternoon and people are starting to come out to have lunch. Reina’s nerves started to rattle her courage. She doesn’t know what to expect. But, she wants to comply with the original Reina’s wish. Reina wanted to make up with her father. Her father swore that he would abandon her once she married the low-life, Leandro. Stupid and naive, that was her father’s impression of her ever since.
