Martha's P.o.v
I sat next to Sonny with a smile while I ate lunch. Hayley was opposite me eating calmly as well.
It took everything in me to agree on letting my son go home first. I wanted to fight Sonny, but when my son looked me in the eyes and told me how he was big enough to take care of himself, my heart instantly gave in.
"The food here is so good and really delicious." I said softly to lighten up the mood.
It was weird that no one was speaking.
"Yes, I would one day love to have lunch like this with my husband." Hayley answered then looked at Sonny who sat not eating.
"Son." She called softly.
Then waited for his response. A minute went by without him looking at her or answering.
"Eli!" She called loudly.
He faced her then cleared his throat.
"Yes, mother." He answered.
Eli?. Why was Hayley calling him that?' I wondered.
"Are you okay son?. You seem distanced and distracted." She said as he forced a smile on his face.
"It's nothing mother." He answered
Hayley put her fork down and faced me seriously.
"You two didn't fight, did you?" She asked as I stopped eating.
"No mother, we didn't." I answered quickly.
"Mother we didn't fight. It's just that I'm very sad that you are leaving." He answered surprising me.
"Leaving?. What do you mean leaving?" I asked loudly.
"It's as you have heard Martha. I'm going back home." She answered with a smile.
"But why?" I asked seriously.
"Well, have you forgotten that I too I'm married?. I can't just leave my husband behind for days and weeks." She answered.
I shifted and faced Sonny who looked so sad and somehow tired.
"If it makes you feel any better. I will be back in the next two months for work. And when I do, I'll make sure to pass by your house, so please cheer up, and don't be sad okay." She said softly.
"It is sad that you are leaving." I whispered then pressed my hand on Sonny's own.
He quickly looked at me with a frown then at our hands.
"I'll take good care of him." I said with a smile.
"Mother, I have sent Steven to bring your luggage here. Since it's what you wanted. He will soon be here. Also if you don't mind, Martha and I won't be seeing you off." He said seriously then pulled away his hand.
Something about him felt different. Mostly towards me. And why would we not see her off.
"Of course I don't mind, it's okay just having to eat next to you before I go." She answered.
"Then excuse me." He said then stood up and walked out.
I quickly followed him behind.
He approached a black Rolls-Royce Phantom and leaned in to talk to the driver.
I stood a bit afar watching.
He stood upright after some minutes and turned to face me.
I forced myself to approach him and stand in front of him.
"What is it?" He asked coldly.
I felt stupid and stuck for the first time. If it was then I would have answered back rudely and without a care. But now for some reason, it was hard.
"I was just worried about you. You don't seem so well." I answered softly.
"You, worried about me?" He asked then chuckled softly.
The driver quickly came out and stood a bit further from us.
"Is everything alright?" Hayley asked as she approached us.
"Yes, mother. I'm sorry to walk out like that. But I'm glad that I did. Steven was here outside waiting for us." He answered.
"Oh, I see, luckily I already paid for everything." She said.
Sonny glared at me then turned and opened the front door.
"Mother this is where we say goodbye." He said.
"Okay." She answered then walked to him and embraced him.
"I will miss you. Take good care of yourself." She whispered and pulled back to face me.
"You too honey." She whispered.
I moved closer and hugged her for a second.
"Thanks," I answered then pulled back.
She got in and closed the door. The driver quickly got in as well and drove away.
Sonny pulled out his cellphone and dialed a number.
"I'm outside the restaurant. You have exactly five minutes to get here." He ordered and cut the call.
I stood there not knowing what to say.
"Um....so about my son." I whispered.
"What about him?" He asked coldly.
"Nothing," I answered then stepped away from him.
"Let's go." He said calmly.
I watched him walk towards a white BMW that had just pulled into the parking lot.
I quickly followed him. The driver stepped out and opened the back seat door.
"Mrs Andrews, please get in." He said calmly.
I walked past him and went to the other side of the car then opened the door and got in.
Sonny shrugged and got in without a word.
The driver quickly shut all the doors, got in too, and started the car.
I looked at Sonny sadly who was looking at the window without a word as the car moved.
I couldn't help but feel that his change of character was all my fault. I felt bad and moved closer.
I slowly lifted my hand to put it on his but stopped myself when his cold gaze met my eyes.
I carefully put my hands on my lap and gazed outside the window.
I tried my best not to be bothered by his sudden treatment but I really was bothered.
When the car pulled into our compound a smile formed on my face.
I was going to see my handsome son again.
Immediately the car was parked. I opened the door and came out.
I walked to the entrance then froze when my eyes went on my luggage.
I turned and faced Sonny seriously.
"What is the meaning of this?" I asked.
Dorcus came out happily and stood next to the luggage.
"Sonny, I'm asking you a damn question. What's the f*****g meaning of this?" I asked on top of my voice.
He sighed then brushed his hand through his hair.
"Martha, I figured how you would be happy to leave this prison s**t of a home. So I took it upon myself to release you. As soon as Steven returns. He will take you where ever you want to go with Tom." He said shocking me.
"What!. And who the f**k is Tom?" I asked loudly.
"Mother is that you." A soft voice called from the passage.
I smiled happily when my son came out and run in my arms.
"Hey, I'm sorry I took a long time to come back." I whispered while I kissed his head.
He pulled back with a smile and ran to Sonny hugging him too.
