** KIM’S POV **
Becca was over the moon when I told her what the P.E teacher said. I tried to be as excited as she was over my unprecedented success, but the guilt of knowing that three girls who were arguably better had to lie in the E.R. for me to get my chance lay too heavily on my mind.
Becca was having none of it when I told her how I felt.
“ Oh, please come off it, none of that was your fault”, she said dismissively
“ I know, it’s just that it would’ve been better if the playground was level and something this controversial didn’t have to happen”, I mumbled, filled with guilt
“I don’t care if the playground is level or like the Grand Canyon, Kim, you’re on the receiving end of nice things for once ... so please enjoy it.” Her eyes were furrowed from frustration by my whining.
