One of the Hell’s Fire members opened the rear door of the rusted sedan.
Millie climbed inside, then turned toward JJ before the door closed between them. From this distance, I could not see her expression clearly, but I saw JJ lift one hand in a small wave she held until the sedan began moving.
She did not follow.
She remained beside Havoc’s truck with both arms wrapped around herself, watching another man drive away with her daughter.
I photographed the sedan through the gap between the buildings. The license plate was visible, along with a dent above the left rear tire and a faded sticker in the back window.
The sedan turned toward the highway.
Every tracking instinct I possessed told me to follow it. This was the first lead I had seen that might take me directly to Millie.
