ALPHA JERRY  I had just returned from a long day of handling the pack’s affairs. As Alpha of the Dark Crest Pack, there was always something to do—something to manage. I stood at the edge of my bed, my mind running a mile a minute. My body was exhausted, and I couldn’t ignore the heaviness in my eyelids. The day had been draining, and I needed rest.
