Chapter 10As he did most days, Devin began his morning with a cup of coffee and the mail. Leafing through a pile of envelopes, he set the bills in a basket. Friday is for bills. As the calendar suggested it was Tuesday, they could wait. Two invitations, one to dine at the home of friends—a barrister and his wife—who lived in town, the other from Mrs. Murphy, reminding him she would leave the back gate unlocked. He tossed the invitation into the bin.
