CHAPTER TWO: GETTING INTO A FIGHT

1375 Words
At the end of the class, a chirpy girl came to my seat to say hello. "Hello, I’m Anna Walker, the first and only human in this school," she said, stretching out her hand for a shake, which felt awkward. "Why would you choose to be here?" I asked, frowning. "I applied to this school, and I was shocked when I got accepted. I’m very fascinated by mythical creatures. I might just find my mate." "Okay," I nodded, definitely not believing that. "The session just started, and you are not missing a lot," she rambled. "I have to get to Miss Wincroft's office after lessons," I said to her. "No issues, I got you," she said, smiling. Two girls walked up to my seat as if they were on a runway, pushing Anna, away. "Stinky humans," the leader glared. Her eyes dark and filled with hate. "You better stay out of my way during your time here, Hunter," her nose turned up as if she smelled something bad. "Well, thank you for the warm welcome, but when you see me, I want you to pass the other way," I replied, equally finding her disgusting. She pushed me, her eyes filled with anger and hate, "Do you know who I am? I’m Rain Silver, the only white wolf in the all of Skythia Empire." I pushed her too. "I don’t care who you are." I smirked, chuckling at how silly she was. "Whoa, girls, stop it," a handsome, tall, red-eyed vampire said, coming in between us. He gave me a look that made my skin crawl. I hated vampires the most; they were slimy like snakes. They drank human blood and treated humans like filth and slaves. They were worse than werewolves. They kill humans for fun. "Rain, could you please stop? What is the problem here?" He asked, but he looked like he was enjoying the fight between us. "Marcus, mind your own damn business. Also, I don’t even understand how this human got into this place," she responded, glaring at me. "Well, if you don’t understand your business, maybe your pack could explain it better to you. Also, I’m not human," I replied, folding my hands. "Ohhhhh, the new girl has some fire," Marcus cheered on like a little gas lighter. An evil light in his eyes. I tried moving away from them, but Marcus glided towards me, bending my hands towards my back. "Know your place in this Academy. Hunters like you won’t last for long. You love to pretend you are predators, but don’t ever forget who the real predators are," he whispered in my ear, his voice chilling my heart. I broke into a sweat from the pain I was feeling. I pushed him away fiercely, hissing at them. Just great, only my first day here, and I’ve made enemies. I arranged my clothes and walked out of the class disgruntled. "I’m so sorry. I couldn’t help," Anna whispered, walking beside me. Her eyes red and teary. "Well, it wasn’t your fault. I doubt if any of the creatures can be at peace with a hunter." "Well, your family are peacekeepers and have been protecting humans for centuries," Anna responded cheerfully. I smiled at that. I was very proud of who I was. This sham of reconciliation was something I couldn’t wait to see the end because it was a mere facade. Everyone was buying into it but I wasn’t. "Marcus is the only son of the vampire king. He is evil and loves drama. He is very powerful so try to stay away from him.", Anna said, shivering. "I won’t expect much from a snake." He was handsome but not as handsome as blue eyes. "I just pray your stay here is fulfilling," Anna said with a little smile. "I just want to pass my days in peace. Also, is this how they bully you here?" I asked, stopping to look at her. "Well, I’m the only human here. Still, I like it here, and I have friends from other packs and clans. Rain just likes acting like she owns the school." "Okay, I’m here to protect you now," I said with a small smile. I really liked her. "Yes, I hope we become friends. Another human in the academy." "I’m not human," I said, lifting her up with only one arm. "I’m a hunter." They are always confusing me with humans. I definitely was not a human maybe an enhanced human. "Okay, I get it. Please let me down," Anna's eyes widened in fear. I laughed at her scared face, dropping her gently. We continued walking till we stopped before a door. "This is Miss Wincroft's office. I will wait for you outside." "Are you sure? What if you get tired? We can always see each other later," I asked out of concern. "No need, I’ll be fine. I got nothing on right now." she replied, pushing me towards the door. I knocked, then opened the door and stepped into the room, closing the door gently behind me. "Oh, Miss Hunter, here you are. Come in, take a seat," Miss Wincroft gestured to the seat in front of her. I walked to the seat, taking in the decorations of the room. I sat down, my eyes landing on the wrinkles close to her eyes. She wore a small smile on her stern face, which seemed out of place. "These are the rules and regulations guiding the Academy and also punishments for default," she said, sliding a book towards me. "Here are also the books you need for your lessons," she pushed more books towards me. "I hope you have a pleasant stay here," she said once more, gesturing towards the door. I left the office with my hands filled with books. Anna was squatting outside. "I’m done, can we go?" I said to her, watching as she struggled to get up as her legs had become numb. "How was it? Did she give you a hard time?" Anna asked. "No, what’s your room number?" I asked, heading towards the dorm even though I had no clue. "Room 305," she replied. "I think that’s my room too." I was surprised by that information. "Are you for real? This is fate," she said, smiling widely. Anna led us successfully to the dorm, chattering all through our walk there. I really enjoyed it, and suddenly the school didn’t seem so bad. We got to the room, and we met another girl sitting on the bed. I walked towards the empty table beside my bed, dumping all my books on it. "Hi, Abby," Anna called out, walking towards the other empty bed. I sat on my bed and arranged my clothes in the wardrobe, took out my favorite throw pillow, and placed it on the bed. I made sure my little space reminded me of home. I took out the frame of my dad and mom and placed it on the table, gently touching my mom’s face. "Is that your mom?" Anna asked. "She looks beautiful." "Yes, she is," I said softly, while my hands were busy around. "Freya, this is Abby, and Abby, this is Freya," Anna introduced me to the girl quietly lying on her bed. I waved, whispering a ‘hi’, and she did the same, her big eyes going wide. I smelled the air, and it was filled with the smell of spice like different herbs and smoke mixed together. "Witch," I mumbled softly. She smelt like one and I knew immediately. "Yes, I am Abby Ganarri from the Everstone coven," she got up on her feet and introduced herself. "Everstone, the largest witch coven in the Skythia Empire." I felt like squealing but I had to keep my cool. "It’s a pleasure to meet a hunter. We haven’t seen much of you guys since the war." "Likewise, it’s nice to meet you," I felt excited to see a real-life witch from a well-known family. She smiled gently before lying on her bed. I liked her, and she was very beautiful with black raven hair that reached her waist. I touched my short hair and smiled awkwardly. "I’m going to use the bathroom," Anna shouted, disappearing from the room.
