The trial lasted nine days.
Celeste changed her plea to guilty on the second morning after the judge denied her bail reconsideration and reminded her .. in open court ...that the evidence file was now over four hundred pages thick.
She stood at the defense table in a plain gray dress, hair pulled back, no makeup, no defiance left in her posture.
When the judge asked how she pleaded to the full list of charges...it was first-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, child endangerment, stalking with intent to cause serious emotional distress, and attempted bodily harm and she answered in a flat voice.
“Guilty.”
The courtroom stayed quiet except for the scratch of the court reporter’s keys and the soft click of the judge’s pen.
