Cabella Hall was packed, and it looked like all the guests had arrived and were seated. I saw familiar faces out of the corner of my eye: local Stockton County business owners, friends and family, and a number of familiar cowboys, some of whom were gay, like Pax Raulton, Cal Hoke, and Cord Darringer. All of them had come to celebrate two men getting hitched, all sharing their support of a queer union. The guests silenced as Pastor Tag began the service with a prayer. Heads were bowed as his voice echoed in the hall. After the prayer, he read from the books of Ephesians, Genesis, and Psalms, and then announced, “The grooms have chosen their own vows today. Grayson, if you’d like to begin, please do.” Gray nodded in agreement, licked his lips once, and stared deeply into my eyes. He said,
