Chapter 21 When it began to get lighter, Cam got more careful to look around and see what was there. It was still dark in the trees, although she could see the sun shining through some of the leaves. Her feet hurt, her back hurt, her legs hurt, hell, everything hurt. “How tall are these mountains?” she wondered out loud. “I should be above the clouds by now.” She kept walking…and walking. The sun was starting to get hotter. It was hot and sticky among the trees where there was no breeze. She was sweating now. It was hard to walk, hard to decide which way to turn. There were many rocks between the trees, but no water. She hadn’t crossed a stream all night. Finally, the trees cleared a little and a two lane road lay in front of her.
