Cam called Dave Deckun early the next morning.
“Dave? This is Cameron Andrews. You were looking for me?”
“Ah, yes, Ms. Andrews, my boss wishes to speak with you.”
“Who’s your boss?”
But Dave chose not to answer. “He has an opening in the company that you might like.”
“Really? Important enough to search through the entire city looking for me?”
“Yes. Extremely important. Will you meet with him? It could be rather lucrative for you.”
“Why me? What makes me so special that you leave messages all over the city for me?”
“He understands you’ll have a hard time finding a job. We know you’ll never find one that needs your skills.”
“I see. How soon does he need me?”
“Can we meet on Wednesday?” he asked.
