I wasn’t myself at all that day. Even as I forced a smile in class, pretending everything was fine, the truth was far from it. Every part of me wanted to confront Hayden, to demand the answers I knew I deserved. Why had he lied to me? Did I deserve this pain he was making me endure? My chest tightened at the thought of it, a constant thrum in my heart. I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks, the sting of betrayal gnawing at me.
Time went by quickly and I was so messed up to know that time had been far spent. The bell rang for a short break, and soon my friends noticed something was off immediately. They slid into the seats beside me, eyes wide with curiosity and concern and I could not look at their faces for a second time.
