Chapter 5

2100 Words
I knew what I was about to do was taking everything to a whole new level. It is probably gonna be high up on my list of ‘Shitty Things That Gee Has Done’. Hell, I was probably going to get arrested. Unless this all goes according to plan. And if it does go to plan then I will sing hallelujah to all those above. I walked through the halls of the university but nobody seemed to be paying much mind to me. I got to the office with the name labeled ‘Iero’ on the door. I could feel my stomach turning with nerves, my hands getting sweaty. I smoothed out my skirt, fixing my hair. I raised my hand to knock on the door, but then began to second guess myself. If he rejects me, then surely he'd call the police for stalking him. But I just found out where he worked from f*******:, everyone f*******: stalks people. Although, I don't think they usually take it as far as I am. I gently knocked but didn't hear anything from inside. I took a deep breath, knocking a little bit harder. There was the dreadful anticipation before a voice told me to come in. It took a moment to recollect myself before I stepped in, shutting the door behind me. He wore a nice black button up with a black tie and a black blazer with black skinny jeans. As much as I now had a distaste for neutral colors, he sure pulled them off damn well. Frank looked up, his face at first surprised but then upset. “I told you to leave me alone,” he said, standing up from his desk. “I'm calling the police.” He grabbed his phone but I hurried over and hit it out of his hand. “Hey, what the--” His words were cut off when I grabbed the collar of his shirt, crashing my lips against his. My heart was racing, a nice warm feeling in my chest as my stomach did a little flip. My head was spinning, feeling like I was in complete ecstasy. I pulled away slowly, and from the look in his eyes I could tell he felt exactly the same thing. The moment between us seemed to be infinite, the colors dancing around and filling every inch of his skin. It was only a second before he was leaning forward and kissing me again. His hands held onto my hips tight as my body was pulled against his. I moaned into the kiss as our lips moved together. He jerked away suddenly, running a hand through his hair. “I'm engaged,” Frank whispered. “But you felt how great it was too,” I insisted. “The sparks.” I held onto his arm and was surrounded again by the colors. “I-I don't f*****g understand,” Frank said. “What the f**k is this?” “It's the colors, you can only see them when you're touching your soulmate,” I explained. “I'm marrying Jamia, she's my soulmate,” he said. I shook my head sadly. “She isn't, Frank, it's me.” “Well I can't just leave her,” Frank said. “I love her, I've loved her since high school. Our wedding is in a month.” “You may love her but she's not the one that's perfect for you,” I said. “It's me, I'm the one you're supposed to be with.” “I don't know you,” Frank said. “I've known Jamia for years, we have a house together and a dog, we have a happy life together.” “We can have a happier life together,” I said. “You can be my daddy and we can get married and be together forever.” “I can't, I'm already Jamia’s daddy,” Frank said. I frowned and I could feel my eyes watering. “I can't leave her for someone I don't even know,” he said, trying to be as sympathetic as possible as he rested a hand on my shoulder. “You'll find your own daddy some day.” I shook my head. “You're supposed to be my daddy, not anyone else.” “I'm sorry, but I'm getting married to my little girl,” he said. “Go on a date with me,” I said. “Then we won't be strangers anymore.” “I can't cheat on her,” he said. “Please, you're my soulmate, were supposed to live happily ever after,” I insisted. “I'm sorry, I'm sure there's someone out there who'll make you just as happy as Jamia makes me,” he said. I shook my head and could feel more tears that were threatening to fall. “I've been waiting for you to come around my whole life,” I whispered. “I already have my love,” Frank said. “And she's gonna be my wife in a month.” “I'm supposed to be your husband,” I said. “Please, just one date and if you hate it then I'll never talk to you again.” I hugged him tight, feeling tears fall in sheer desperation. “Hey, hey, kid, calm down,” Frank said. “Okay? Just take a deep breath.” I nodded, trying to stop crying. “Okay, kid, listen here,” he said. “I'm sorry to say for you that I'm getting married in a month. But you've sure got your eyes fixed on me. Clearly there's something odd going on between us. How about one date, this Saturday.” I pulled away, smiling and nodded before that smile fell. “That's my birthday, I had plans,” I said. “That's the only time I'm available,” he said. “I have work and wedding planning.” “No, that's okay, the plans weren't anything special anyways,” I said. “Let's go on the date, please.” “Here, give me your number,” Frank said. He picked up his phone from the ground and we exchanged numbers. “Gee,” Frank read. “That's a pretty name.” I blushed, mumbling a “thanks”. “And after this date, I'm allowed to call off everything between us,” he said. I nodded and he ran a hand through his hair. “Fine, I'll text you later,” he said. “But don't go around telling people about this.” “I won't,” I promised. I giggled happily, kissing his cheek. I turned to leave but stopped, wanting to make a bolder move. I kissed him on the lips, feeling the sparks between us. I pulled away, seeing the slight awe on his face before he covered it up. I smirked, walking out of the room and heading out towards my car. My plan actually worked. Well, to some extent. I was kind of hoping he'd just run into the sunset with me and we could leave it all behind. But hey, at least I got a date. A date this Saturday, on my eighteenth birthday. God, Lindsey might be a little upset that I'm canceling plans with her. I'm sure she'll actually be happy though when she finds out about my date with Frank. Bert will also be proud that I made such a bold move. I drove to Lindsey's house immediately. I walked inside, waving to her dad as I hurried up to her room. Lindsey was on the bed doing homework when I fell down beside her and giggled happily. She smiled, closing her textbook and putting everything on the floor. “Hey, Gee, what's up?” She asked. “I have a date,” I stated proudly. “With the one and only Frank Iero.” “What? How’d you manage that?” She asked. “I went to his office at his work and kissed him and begged him for a date,” I explained. “And it worked?” Lindsey asked in shock. “Yeah, we have a date this Saturday,” I said. “Oh, on your birthday,” she said, sounding a little sad but then happy again. “Oh, that’s alright we can always go to the strip club a different day. You go get him, tiger. You’ve gotta wow him, what are you two doing?” “Oh, I don’t actually know,” I said. “He told me that he’d just text me.” “You exchanged numbers? Great, now we know he’s not just gonna ditch you because you have his number now too,” she said. “Anyways, we need get an outfit for you to wear. Something cute but also sexy.” “Well, I’m not even sure what we’re doing yet,” I said. “What if he just takes me to the movies? Or if he takes me to a fancy restaurant?” “I think that you shouldn’t overthink it too much,” she advised. “The date is in two days, let’s just wait to see when he’s gonna text you. And if he ends up blowing you off, then tell me where he works and I will beat his ass then make him take you out on that date.” “Okay, so maybe I’ll just wear a cute dress? I can never go wrong with a cute dress,” I said. “Yes, you are going to look so great that he’s just going to be drooling over you and begging for a second date,” she said. “Great, so all I need to do is make him fall for me within one date, this shouldn’t be hard at all,” I said sarcastically. Lindsey laughed, shaking her head as she patted my back. “C’mon, it won’t be too hard. Here, let’s go see if there’s anyway to do your hair and makeup for this very special date.” I sat down at her vanity as she stood behind me, running her slim fingers through my hair. “Do you really think this date is gonna go well?” I asked nervously. “Of course it is, everyone loves you, Gee,” Lindsey said, an almost sad tone laced within her words. “What’s wrong?” I asked. “It’s just...do you really think there’s someone out there for me?” She whispered. I turned around to face her with a frown, holding onto her hand that had previously just been in my hair. “Of course there’s someone out there for you.” “But nobody has ever really liked me,” she said quietly. “I mean, people have had crushes on you since elementary school but nobody has even looked my way.” I gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. “Hey, there is someone out there who is gonna look your way and they’re gonna be taken breathless from the beauty of you. Someone is gonna come along and make you see what others can’t.” Lindsey smiled and said, “Frank is lucky to have you as his soulmate.” I smiled, the two of us caught in this peaceful moment. “Okay,” she said, “I think you should go for a more bold lipstick rather than your normal light grey lipgloss.” She reached into her makeup bag and grabbed a lipstick, popping the cap and revealing the slightly dark grey color. “This one is Candy Apple Red, I really like it because the dark grey looks nice with darker clothes,” she said. “Wait, I know that color!” I exclaimed. “What do you mean?” Lindsey asked. “I know that color, I know the color red,” I said. “Red is a color? I always thought it was just a shade of grey,” Lindsey said. I shook my head, not able to wipe the smile off my face while she put it on me, much to her annoyance. This gave me a little bit of hope, just knowing that the world is meant for the colors and that I could possibly have it.
