Ross, Flora and Ralph
Ross Hendershot rode into Yuma in 1879 looking for a job with a new company of the Arizona Rangers. He had been forced, during his trip to Yuma, to shoot and kill a man who was trying to rob him of his horse, and material items. The man's name was George Martin. George had a brother who tried twice to dry gulch Ross and failed both times. Just when Ross thought he was all done with the Martin boys it happened on the streets of Yuma with the younger Martin coming at him again. This time Ross had no g*n. At the last second possible, before Martin would have shot Ross, the Sheriff of Yuma County at the time, Ralph Forney, shot and killed the Martin boy. It was the beginning of the friendship of the two men who became as close as brothers.
