Ralph and Ross would do so in idle talk with men in the saloon as well. Sooner or later it would be known who it was. This conversation was just about planning. They needed to get home so they could start the process of finding out who was helping Jason. Ross wanted to get home to his wife. Ralph needed the solace of some time at his ranch, some time to think about all the things which had happened, and what he would have as a response to confront Jason or the man who helped Jason escape. The first night out of Ehrenberg the two men decided to shoot a rabbit and have something different than hard tack and jerky for dinner. They set up a camp and lit a fire. Ralph took care of the hunting, cleaning and skinning as well as preparing the rabbit on a spit rotating over and over the small fire
