Chapter 2

Alistair – Her first day.   It was the middle of the semester, and in fact it was the middle of the day when I smelt the most amazing smell suddenly. It was like Lavender and Vanilla with chocolate. I looked around for the scent and saw the principal walk in. “Mrs sanders please can I see you for a minute?” Said Principal Mills. “Yes Mrs Mills.” Replied Mrs Sanders. Mrs Sanders got up and walked towards the door then shut it behind her. “Do you think she is in trouble?” Said Matthew. “New student.” I said. “Nah mate, it is too late for a new student. It’s probably because they are secretly lovers.” Chimed in Arthur. “Dumbass.” I replied. I tried focusing on the teachers outside but could only make out the words “Elizabeth, Jeopardy, Risk, Secret, Quiet, Death, Fired” Shit is going to get real this semester. I couldn’t help but tell myself. Mrs Sanders walked in with a serious look on her face which also showed a bit of fear. Everyone was distracted talking s**t. “QUIET!” Shouted Mrs Sanders to get attention from the students. Everyone shut up and looked instantly. “We have a new student joining today, I want you to make her feel welcomed.” Mrs Sanders spoke with a scared tone. Everyone sensed her tone. Mrs Sanders looked towards the doorway. And in she walked with a smile and looking so innocent. She had a little weight, and freckles, her hair was in a tight bun with a fringe along the top. Her eyes looked like they empty inside. They looked hazel though from this distance. “Please take a seat near Melissa.” Urged Mrs Sanders. The girl stood still in spot. Then Mrs Sanders walked towards her and gestured her to follow Mrs Sanders towards the seat. Well she followed her and sat down in front of Melissa. Mrs Sanders walked to the front of the class and sat in her desk. Most of us focused on the new girl. “Class read chapter 14 then come and see me.” Mrs Sanders said. I raised my hand out of curiosity. “Yes Alistair.” Mrs Sanders said. “Mrs Sanders, can I ask, what’s the new girls name and is she deaf?” I asked curiously. “You can not ask that. Now for that you can read chapters 14, 25 and 34 for butting in where you don’t belong.” Mrs Sanders answered.
