We Found the Gun The next afternoon we received more ammunition. The DNA evidence from the strands of hair that Walker County had sent over proved to be a dead match—they were Hemphill’s. They had been found on Farnsworth’s chest as well as in his motel room. There were other, unidentifiable hairs, but they didn’t matter. What mattered was that the hairs we did have belonged to Hemphill. It would be hard as hell for him to get out of this one, especially since he swore he had never been at the Best Western.
