I promise I almost drop him from shock.
There in front of me was the black haired blue eyed beauty with the perfect smile. He was nervous. I could tell by his expression and wavering smile. His hair was drenched, probably from the rain, and it reminded me much of Sebastian at this current moment. They both had soaking wet black hair.
My mind wavers and I think back to Sebastian. Sebastian said his first words. No, it wasn't Mama, Mommy, or even Ma like we've been practicing. It was Daddy as he called for the man he's never even met.
Forget that. Sebastian spoke.
I was frozen and so was any words I had planned to say to him.
"What?" I question. He looks at me with a wide smile, tear stained cheeks, and his wild wet hair that was practically down his back since I had combed and washed it. Sebastian wiggles in my arms again, reaching for the intoxicating man I slept with all those nights. "He's never spoke before. He just said his first word!" I gasp, mumbling to myself while Sebastian moves again.
"May I?" He says, gesturing to Sebastian who was reaching for him.
"May you? I don't even know your name and you want to hold my child." I sputter, taking a step back. I didn't mean to be so hostile but how exactly would you react when someone you haven't seen in twenty months comes to your doorstep and asked to hold your child?
It wasn't helping that Sebastian wanted to go to him.
Yes, that was his father. Aside from the fact that he's a s*x god — granted, I've only had s*x once but let me tell you right now that it was great — and does something that allows him to just have a million dollars to blow, but what was it? He could be in the mafia and want a heir and was now here for my sweet little baby.
He could be a drug lord and was seeking a place to stay.
If he was really a drug lord, I doubt he'd come to little ol' me for a place to stay.
Actually, that would be perfect. We aren't legally tied together in any way. We aren't family, friends, or anything that if the US government was looking for him that they'd have any reason to suspect that he was here.
"Noah." He smiles, disconnecting me from my previous thoughts while Sebastian tries his hardest to reach for the man.
Funny, that was almost Sebastian's name.
He was crying all day and now all the sudden he's the happiest in the world.
"Daddy!" He laughs while Noah attempts to hold back his smile.
"So, I take it you didn't take a Plan B." He says and for some reason I laugh.
For some reason, I trusted him enough that night with my body and to give me a baby. I didn't trust him for no reason. My judgement was usually good — then again, I was drunk.
"No. I didn't. Y-you can come in." I stutter. I turn around and allow him to follow behind me. I hear the door shut while I debate what exactly I was going to do.
"Where should I put these?" It was only then I realized he had a bouquet of flowers in his hands. I take a step back.
"I... can take them." I finish my sentence, reaching for the flowers. I take them to the kitchen and put them in the freezer for now, preserving them until I find a vase. Sebastian whines in my arms.
He obviously felt whatever father-son connection that was there.
"Mama! Daddy!" Sebastian practically yells. He wants to be put onto the ground but I turn him to face me before showering him with kisses.
"Good job, baby. I'm Mama." I say, hugging him to me. He only whines in my arms, wanting to be put down.
I put him on his bottom and he immediately moves towards the living room where Noah is standing behind the couch, looking around. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt and a pair of black skinny jeans. It looked odd since the only other time I had seen him, he was dressed up.
"How did you know where I live?" I question, my eyes darting to Sebastian and back to his father.
God, he was handsome.
"I know a lot of people in high places." He nods, his hands going to his pocket.
Sebastian has already made his way to the couch, now standing with the assistance of the couch. He was shuffling his feet toward the other end of the couch where Noah was.
"Why are you here?" I say, moving so that I could see Sebastian. I sit on the small black sofa chair we had next to the stairs. I can now see both Noah and Sebastian.
His eyes are following Sebastian's little body but he darts them back to I. "I, um, I want wanted to see you." Sebastian gets closer and closer, eventually letting go to crawl to his feet.
"Why?" I question. I was already a paranoid person and now I know that Noah has been asking around for me and found me. Something here wasn't right.
"I'm sorry, can I pick him up?" He says, looking down at Sebastian who was pulling himself up, using Noah's jeans. Now that he was standing, he started to hit him as if saying 'pick me up'.
"Answer the question first."
"We are going to be together." He says before looking at Sebastian and darting his eyes towards me, silently asking if he could pick him up now. Sebastian was starting to get fussy and I was trying to decipher what he meant when he said we were going to be together.
Noah crouches, picking Sebastian up swiftly. The child immediately goes to play with his father's wet hair before touching his hair, as if to say 'hey, I have hair too!'.
In this moment, I can't help but to be jealous of Noah's knees. He definitely works out. Probably more than I.
"What's his name?"
"Sebastian." I say quickly while said person lets out a loud 'Daddy!'.
"Hey buddy." He laughs while Sebastian leaves — what I'm sure are very wet — kisses on his face. Noah holds him away while they both laugh.
"You don't even know if that's your child." I blurt. It was his child. But he just waltz into my home, not even knowing whether or not that was his child.
"He looks just like my mother." He says, playing with a strand of Sebastian's hair. Sebastian's only in a diaper right now so his baby rolls are on display. Noah smiles at Sebastian before lifting a finger a slightly tickling near his collarbone. "He's definitely mine."
I watch the two interact. It's almost as if Noah has been here for the past nineteen month, talking to Sebastian through the womb, and then talking to him as a newborn and as he continued to grow.
"What's your number?"
"You found my address but you couldn't find my number." Noah says, giving me a small smile while our son reaches up for his hair and tugs harshly. I wince for Noah.
"I asked for your address so that I could see you when I asked for your number."
"Typically, you do the exact opposite." I say, slight teasing to my voice.
"I'm not a typical person. I know what I want." He says, his eyes not wavering from mine for a second. I know his words have a double meaning.
"What do you mean by we're going to be together?" I question as he sits down. Sebastian was now crawling to a nearby toy.
"In every aspect of the term." He smiles up at me as I press my legs together. "We'll be together. We can even get married if you want."
"What would make you think I'd even want to be with you?" I question as Sebastian chucks the toy in Noah's direction, hitting him right in his shoulder. Sebastian then crawls back over to his father.
"You know the term drunk words speak a sober heart, yeah?" He asks, allowing Sebastian to run his toy through his hair. I only nod for him to continue.
"I believe alcohol as a truth serum in a way. We lose our inhibitions and say and do things we'd never say sober. The alcohol only gives us the extra boost to do so. We allow ourselves to act on our true feelings and intentions when our inhibitions are low." Noah looks at me with a smile.
"Where exactly are you going with this?"
"Our whole night started because you said you didn't trust anybody enough to have a baby with them. Then, at one point during the night you told me you trusted me." He stated, speaking again before I could even process what he said. "You said you didn't trust anyone enough to have a baby with them, yet, here we are. A baby, made by us. Then, I show up unannounced and after not seeing each other for almost two years, you allow me to hold your son. That requires a good amount of trust."
"Maybe I just don't think you'll harm your own flesh and blood." I say and he laughs.
My eyes look at the small baby and tall man in front of me, making me jealous of how adorable they are together and how Sebastian stopped crying the moment he heard his voice.
"Because you trust me." Noah says between laughs while Sebastian attempt to hold his face still to give him a kiss.
Oh, now they're just being mean.
"Can I have your number now?"
"I feel like you already have it." I accidentally say out loud. It was true. No way he would have gotten my home address but not my phone number.
"I thought it would be more polite to ask." He shrugs. "Now that we have introductions out of the way, let's plan our first date."
"You're insane."
"I told you; I always know what I want. I tend to get what I want as well." He shrugs, laying back and throwing Sebastian in the air. He lets out a load of giggles while I observe.
"I don't know you. All I know is that your name is Noah. I don't know your full name, birthday, age, how many siblings you have, where you were born, occupation. We can't go on a date and not know each other."
"You typically don't have a child together and don't know each other either but look at us now."
"Got me there." I mumble to myself.
"Noah Austin Hart, January 1st, I am twenty five years old, I have four siblings, I was born in London, and I am a businessman. Anything else you'd like to know?" He says, allowing Sebastian to sit on his chest and attempt to count his teeth.
"Why are you really here? Do you want to take my son away from me? If so, let me know now so I can take necessary measures."
"No." He stands up, coming closer to me. "I just want you and our son. I want us to be together. That night I never intended for you to slip through my fingers. You're mine."
Noah was now standing in front of me, Sebastian in his arms with a wide smile while I looked up at the both of them. The resemblance between the both of them was so clear. There was no reason he could ever think that wasn't his child.
"No. I'm not interested in a relationship." I say, reaching for Sebastian who was now reaching for me. Noah assists in handing him to me. We get a little too close and I can smell him. You could tell he used a expensive cologne. I'd guess probably Calvin Klein. I could smell him all day.
"I don't take no for a answer." He says, his face as serious and stern as that first night I met him. "I want you and I can tell you do too. I know by the way every time I speak you clench your thighs together. Just give us a chance. You did before, do it again." His voice drops an octave and he was right, I was squeezing my thighs together.
"That's s****l attraction. You're a very attractive person but that doesn't mean I want to date you."
"Briella. You trust me. We don't even have to be in a relationship." As he spoke, I could tell he was holding something back.
"I'm sorry Noah. You need to leave. My brothers are on their way here and I'd rather if they didn't see you." I panic, standing and beginning to lead Noah towards the door.
"I'm in love with you." He spits out, immediately face palming a curse. I'm frozen in my spot as he look back up at me, a nervous smile with nothing but sincerity in his eyes.
Did I hear that right?
He's what?
"Y-you can text me, okay?" I sputter, giving him permission to text my phone. He looks at me, nodding with a slight smile before stepping out.
"Bye!" I wave, my nervousness clear in my voice.
"Bye." Noah says, running a hand through his wet hair. It wasn't raining as bad anymore. Maybe a slight drizzle.
"Byeee!" Sebastian screams, moving his fingers up and down to say bye.
I close the door and watch as Noah stares at the door for a moment before smiling, fist bumping the air before walking away.
I turn back to Sebastian, who was in a brand new mood, extremely happy.
"Holy f**k, you can talk!"
