Shake glanced at his watch. The approach took 20 minutes. He’d have to hurry. He made his way cautiously to the wall of the barn and peeked through the window. Chan was there, lying bound and gagged on the ground. Standing over her in the glow of an electric camping light was a chubby man showing serious gang ink on his bare arms. He saw the tan jacket nearby hanging from a nail on one of the uprights. So, this was the guy in the photo. Did he shoot the photo as a selfie? Or was there another man somewhere? He couldn’t see anyone else, but there might be one of more tucked back somewhere in the dark shadows. Maybe there were no booby-traps, maybe it was just the one asshole trying to pull this off.
