Chapter 4: The Jealous Ex
Ayesha was at the grocery store. Alone.
Zayan said she could go out, as long as bodyguards followed her.
"Long time no see, Ayesha."
She turned. Her ex, Hamza. The one who left her when her dad died.
"What are you doing here?" she asked coldly.
"I heard you got married. To some rich guy. For money, right?" He smirked. "You always were desperate."
Before she could answer, a cold voice cut through.
"Take your hands off my wife."
Zayan.
He was in a black suit, in the middle of a grocery store, looking like he owned the place. And he was furious.
Hamza laughed. "Wife? Since when? You don't even love her."
Zayan stepped forward and pulled Ayesha behind him. His hand found hers and squeezed. Hard.
"She's Mrs. Khan. Show some respect." His eyes were dark. Possessive.
Hamza left, scared.
In the car, silence.
"Thank you," Ayesha whispered.
"Don't thank me. You're my property for 1 year." But his thumb was still rubbing over her knuckles.
He didn't let go until they reached home.
That night, Ayesha couldn't sleep. Why did he look so angry? Why did he hold her hand like that?
The contract said no feelings.
But Zayan was breaking rules already.
