After the divorce officially took effect, I returned to the apartment one last time to collect the rest of my belongings. There actually wasn't much left, mostly old clothes and daily necessities. Martha had already been moved by the caregiver to a specialized residential care facility, with the expenses temporarily covered using the bank card I left for her. As for Zara, I heard Miles had sent her back to his hometown and asked a distant relative to look after her. Meanwhile, he rented an even smaller apartment in a run-down neighborhood, surviving on temporary odd jobs while struggling to deal with the debt repayments I was pursuing against him.
